I cannot imagine how long it will take them to rebuild / start working and other "normal" shit. And, like, there isn't enough addition to figure out the total cost of this. At some point they run out of "+" signs.

Don't worry, even in progressive bastions like AUS, insurance companies will find a way to fuck everybody.

Might be the truest words you've ever spoken on here.

He might be lacking in internet access. And there might be a lot more important shit going on. Hopefully, he'll post soon.

Yeah we're alright. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Really appreciate it. Personally didn't suffer much damage (well, comparatively) due to the elevation, but have so many friends that have literally lost everything.

Everything is covered in mold because the air is so thick with humidity, even stuff that hasnt been wet by the rain itself is all moldy. Every timber surface and pretty much every surface in general in the house is white with the crap. We had a fucking mushroom grow out of the carpet this morning too. Just wont stop raining.

Apparently heaps of people are getting mushrooms growing out everywhere. Insane.

Everything is wet, like condensation on the outside of an air-conditioned room, except we don't have air conditioning, just from the ridiculous amount of moisture in the atmosphere. Like being on another planet right now.

It's like God is fucking with the farmers. Twenty years of drought, leading to some of the highest suicide rates in the world among farmers, and then when it finally starts raining it's this...

I heard on NPR that another huge storm is headed your way... stay safe dude. I can't fucking imagine carpet mushrooms... Can you find a dehumidifier anywhere cheap? As my oft-flooded basement attests, even a small unit can pull amazing amounts of water from the air.

While I'd never would want to compare Mick, I've been through 3 major hurricanes in the last 5 years. I've been fortunate to have come through these mostly okay. But I've had tons of friends and family who have lost everything (1 friend who lost everything twice in two different hurricanes).

I've lived through that "stickiness" feeling where everything seems and is wet. I only post this to let you know that things to eventually return to normalcy even if it doesn't seem like it ever will. There were times I thought it wouldn't. Best of luck.

I guess the cars floating by out the windows would be a distraction, yeah.

ok.....

now this

Image

Category Five Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasi.

Winds at the centre exceeding 300 km/h. That's like 190 miles an hour.

The largest, most intense system in our nation's history, apparently, and we've had some fucking doozies...

About to cross the coast in about eight hours. Probably gonna make those floods seem like a gentle sunshower. I'll keep you posted...

I just packed up my studio and moved all my expensive shit to my house which is on higher ground, and i literally got knocked down by the wind. Took me ten or fifteen seconds just to close the car door. Gonna be a bumpy night...

Mick, load up on beer and batteries, it's gonna be a heavy few hours. Living through hurricanes my entire life, I know what you're in for. Good time for reading, chatting about bullshit from grade school, and weird sex. Live it up, and see you on the other side.

Just heard winds at the centre are now exceeding 325 km/h.

It will cross the coast in coincidence with a high tide, so shit is gonna get real ugly. A storm surge of up to seven metres is predicted.

The sky is an eery pink and purpley grey right now. Very ominous. Not much rain yet, just gale force winds and a drizzle. That's all gonna change real soon tho.
