So apparently now if you buy ANY cloud drive plan for data storage, you can upload UNLIMITED music files to your account and it wont count against your space. So for like $20/year you can have unlimited music storage for the life of your participation. Im going to try this out and report back but I figured Dale, etc. would be interested.

I saw this and was impressed as well....I still wanna sit and wait a good solid year before jumping into one of these different cloud options....let all the kinks get worked out, see who rises to the top and offers the best deal....

one time per year

Edit: and you can try their free option (5GB of upload and unlimited Amazon purchased music.) I'm trying it and never use it. I'd just rather have it with me without the need for bandwidth or internet access.

The problem I'm having with these cloud storage services is mainly that the UI's suck. They all have some fatal flaw in that department.

Another Amazon note: I recently discovered that if you are a Prime member (and why wouldn't you be?), you get access to a bunch of TV shows and movies for free.

Yeah the biggest problem is my upload speed means it will take me about 3 months to upload everything. I wonder if work would mind me using their bandwidth for this ;)

I've been using Amazon's cloud since they first rolled it out a couple of months back. The UI is very basic as Bloor noted but other than that, it works great. If I buy music online, I buy it from Amazon, so it made sense to use their cloud service. And now if I buy, I don't even have to wait for it to download, which is even better.

Hopefully, the UI improves.

i guess one thing i should mention is that i dont think i would need this for streaming/playing as much i would need it for storage. i mean if they will offer me 1TB of storage for my music files for $20/year, with a decent interface and the ability to up/down easily, then its a no brainer

SO, I am uploading a few records to try this out...

Is there a way to upload a folder with a full album in it, w/o having to highlight each track?
Im on a mac book, and it makes me highlight each song to upload, then once everything is uploaded, i create a folder, (band name - album title), then have to move all the songs into it...

that seems like a pain in the ass, or am i doing something wrong?

this is free: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iawsmana ... 16526?mt=8

EDIT: but you might have to get the 4.99 version to actually upload files, as opposed to just monitoring them

this is probably not the est for playing music on an iphone. it does seem to be very good on the android and ipad and is probably the best storage choice

And you're one broke as mutha fucka if you cant afford 20 bucks a year.

Just trying to sync my iTunes was more than the limit for the Google Cloud, so looks like I'll give Amazon a go. Now I have to decide just how much longer I hold onto my iPod or not. Damn thing acting up again and needing repair anyway.

I'm going to go ahead and ask the stupidly obvious question: What the hell is a cloud?

I keep hearing all of this stuff like it's some amazing technological breakthrough, and it just sounds to me like a giant server that you can access from anywhere. Am I oversimplifying this? If so, why is everyone acting like this is a new thing?
