So I have a couple pals that have experienced some recent heart ache. So, I of course made them a mix of songs that meant something to me lyrically. Some are new songs of interest that reminded me of things. Others are songs that I listened to at the time of the said romantic problems. I think the mix is wonderful. What is the obner opinion? :)

1. The Appleseed Cast - Hanging Marionette
2. The Appleseed Cast - A Place In Line
3. Aqualung - Strange and Beautiful
4. Aqualung - Good Times Gonna Come
5. Azure Ray - The Drinks We Drank Last Night
6. Azure Ray - These White Lights Will Bend to Make Blue
7. Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice
8. Denali - Lose Me
9. Elliott Smith - Everything Reminds Me Of Her
10. Elliott Smith - Between the Bars
11. Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should've Come Over
12. Jeff Hanson - Losing A Year
13. Jim Croce - Photographs and Memories
14. Jim Croce - Time In A Bottle
15. Beck - The Golden Age
16. Beck - Guess I'm Doin' Fine
17. Patrick Park - Something Pretty
18. Stars - Your Ex-lover Is Dead

NOTE: Two of these songs were my ones for the obner make a mix, in case you hadn't looked in there. I recently got caught up in the songs "Losing a Year" and "Your Ex-lover is Dead". I think they are wonderful tunes.

Jim Croce makes me want to experience a five day waiting period.

I don't know all the songs on your mix; that being said, i think your choices are pertinent, although I don't know if they'll make your friends feel better. it depends if they're the kind of people who listen to sad music to feel better...

The Croce might be crossing some sort of line. He's got better, less worn-out songs, but the intent is certainly admirable. Otherwise some great songs. A good recommendation for a closer might be Havalina by the Pixies, as it's reflective without being sad, and almost deviod of lyrics. Puts a nicer ending on things.

You must jettison the Jim Croce.

That mix would be perfect for some Joe Henry. Maybe the song "Fuse", or you could find the same sentiments of the maudlin "Time In A Bottle" in his stunning and oblique "Ohio Air Show Plane Crash".

Well put!

Yea, what's up with the alphabetical order? The order is often more important than the song selection when making a superb mix.

Hmmm. They're not really in alphabetical order. Awfully close. But, that's not the final order. It's just the way I posted them. And the songs are not to make these people feel better necessarily. I am giving them a copy of the lyrics. The lyrics for these songs are the things that I am wanting them to look closely at. Not just the music itself.

I can't pass on putting Jim Croce on this mix. The people getting these mixes are not that used to Jim Croce. So, it's not as though they will hear it and be "oh geez, I have heard this a million times". Plus, I love Jim Croce. I love him. haha

I think the numbers before the tracks was misleading. It's not, as I said, the final order. I am pretty much set on these songs though. I will take a listen to the suggesstions made. The problem is that this mix is of songs that mean a lot to me already. I don't have much, if any, experience with the other suggesstions for the mix. They wouldn't fit for that purpose alone. I just don't know them.

Aaron, one of them is our good buddy Tim. The other is a female friend of mine out here.

I do agree that some of the songs are slow, but I don't know that I am trying to make them get hyped up and energetic. I want to give them a list of songs that they can listen to that they may find personal applications in lyrically as well as enjoy musically. If there are any other songs that may fit into this and I know it or can easily find the lyrics to I will consider adding it. Thanks for the opinions people.
