There's enough Dale Murphy love on this board to post this as its own thread.

Aquarium Drunkard did an interview with Dale, and interestingly enough, he has his own blog (http://murphtalks.blogspot.com) where he talks music, etc.

My favorite quote from the above interview was when AD asked what his walk-out music would be: "“Daft Punk Is Playing At My House”? (Laughs). I don’t know all the titles of their songs, but I know that one. I don’t even know who Daft Punk is, except that they wrote the soundtrack for Tron. How about “North American Scum”? People would crack up at that."

The fact that Dale Murphy referenced not only LCD and DP, but also made mention of 2 of their songs is pretty crazy.

I saw this on twitter. I think his kid is in a band....so he'll probably grow up to be Jon Huntsmann.

One man's "long" is another man's insightful, articulate, and interesting.

Anyone remember that band View with a few White Sox (Jack McDowell, Wayne Edwards) in it? Jack REALLY liked R.E.M.

Is it sad that I'm fairly certain that the card above is from the "traded" set.

Quote:
Dale Murphy was the best baseball player of the 1980s. He won two MVP Awards and was a 7-time all-star. Originally a catcher, Dale converted to the outfield, and became a 5-time gold glove centerfielder. Over 13 full seasons, Dale Murphy produced an .815 OPS and a .469 slugging percentage. He finished his career with 2,111 hits, 398 homers, and 1,266 RBIs.

Fuck the numbers. If Robin Yount, Willie Stargell, Cal Ripkin, and Ryne Sandberg are in, why the fuck not the Murph.

FUCK EVERYBODY! EVER!

I really hated those monochromatic Braves caps.

that's what they were wearing against the Phillies last week, but I think the blue was darker.

Yeah, they never get the throwbacks right. Always some modern twist on them.

I'll agree that Dale belongs in the HOF, but best player of the 80s is a bit of a stretch.

I dunno, I'd say it's Murphy by a mile.

I don't think it's as wide a gulf as you might think.

I love you man.

30th anniversary just came and went of the day he hit FOUR homers in one game in a LOSS to the Expos about 2-3 weeks ago.

People always forget how truly awful he Braves used to be. (aka my childhood. )

The Falcons were too. It was fun shitty to play the 49ers twice a year in the 80's and 90's.
