Wu Lyf - Go Tell Fire To The Mountain

I'm not really down with this on first listen but at least its a bit different from the standard cookie cutter UK indie dreck we've become all too accustomed with. Potential to swell in my estimations but by no means guaranteed.

Strange Boys - Be Brave

Not heard this yet, just about to be loaded into 'Old Meg'.

Alton Ellis: Collectorama - The Story of Mister Soul

Like the title says, a great collection of soulful tracks by the rocksteady legend. I haven't really dug into enough different compilations to say if this particular French collection is much better or worse than other available, but it's got all his most famous songs and then some and is a great listen.

St. Vincent - Strange Mercy
(I love St. Vincent. This doesn't seem to be my favorite album by her, but not bad.)

Image
Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway
(This is one of those albums people would like to tell me is a guilty pleasure. It's not. I just like it.)

Image
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
(People may or may not remember various times I've commented on this album and my general hate geared towards it. It has really grown on me the past year and I am finally to a point where I understand why it is the critical/fan favorite, even though I still don't fully agree.)

This is my first time ever listening to WITTR, Liturgy, Dissection, or Emperor. Also will be my first full listen to those Neurosis and Mastodon records. I expect to probably enjoy the Neurosis the most out of this bunch. I don't know why I don't have more of their stuff.

First listen to WITTR was good. Unfortunately it seems like the mp3s I have have gaps between the tracks that shouldn't be there and disrupt the flow.

I'm about halfway through the Liturgy now, and so far I'm enjoying it. The vocals not so much, but musically it's pretty unique, I think. Almost like a full-band Lightning Bolt at times, other times like Orthrelm, and of course a lot of things I can't place. Sure it isn't "real" black metal but so what.

Really looking forward to the Dissection and Emperor albums based on what I've heard.

And I'm expecting to like this Mastodon album a lot more than the last one. My impression of it (based on a few whole songs and samples of a few others) is that it's sort of like their QOTSA record, and if so that would be a good thing.
