This is feels like the end of my days of giving a shit about college football. I'll still watch some Navy/Tech games, and when Tech comes to San Marcos I may buy actual tickets, and if the broad puts on an OU game I won't leave the room, but I've lost interest.

You weren't far off: #18 in the Coaches and AP and #16 in the BCS. Seems about right.

VA Tech-Meechigan in the Sugar is a bit of a head scratcher until you remember that bowl games are exhibitions and businesses designed to get the most viewers and sell the most tickets. Michigan will travel. Boise St. will not. Case closed.

This is funny. I was telling people last night that after the Boise St. debacle to open the season I was "hanging my head in shame, and re-evaluating my life vis-a-vis my dedication to CFB, whereas after Saturday against The Bayou Bengals I felt that UGA is who we thought they were - and that being a UGA fan is like being a Cubs fan, so wait til next year. We have 16 returning starters...."

I was just thinking that, regardless of whether these teams DESERVE to be there, this game is one of a few that actually looks really interesting.

I'm with you man. I'm having a "WTF have I done with my life" moment with CFB today.

Dawgs are probably where they should be although I think we should be playing Va. Tech. Both teams have padded records due to their easy schedules and got beat by ranked teams when it mattered. They deserve each other. MSU def has beef falling to the Outback while the Wolverines play in the Sugar.

Travesty. So begins National Bitch about CFB day.

I'm sure I'll tune in to the Outback and maybe 1 or 2 others but man, I'm disgusted with the whole charade at this point.

Happy WVU is in Orange, but by no means deserve it. Really was hoping for the Va Tech/WVU match-up.

i dont have any major problems with how things turned out. we got a few good games out of it at least. and i think the best 2 teams are playing for the title. after that, everything is just exhibitions for final standings which no one remembers. might be cool to see a 4 team playoff, but after LSU/BAMA/OSU, i'd say the next several teams are all pretty equal and difficult to rank. hell, oregon is ranked behind stanford, but beat the ever lovin shit out of them.

He's quite a talent, but no way he deserves a trip over Barkley...and this coming from someone who HATES USC.

LOOK AT THE GAME TAPE!

That dude won the game against UGA - and pretty much everyone else they've played. And, he's a sophomore.

Also, go back and watch the LSU/WVU game. Dude damn near single handedly won the game.

I mean, the "Honey Badger" has been the biggest meme in college football all year for a reason.

Like I said, he's an amazing talent, but he is a guy who basically gives you 2-3 highlight reel plays per game - not a constant 15+ touch guy like a QB or RB.

I'm not saying The Honey Badger doesn't deserve to be a Heisman finalist, just not to the exclusion of Barkley.

I know there's much more to it than just stats, but...

Honey Badger 4 TDs
Matt Barkley 41 TDs (39 passing)

HB is a flashy guy with a lot of buzz. All about the "meme" Derris mentioned.

Right, but when you have a guy like Luck who is basically not considered a favorite anymore because he had one "bad" game against Oregon, I think you have to consider intangibles.

For my money, I think it's a plum fucking travesty a guy from BAYLOR is probably going to win. For some reason he seems like the Gino Toretta of this year's crop to me. Whereas Case Keenum is obviously the Dave Klingler.

RGIII is my Heisman candidate. Guy put up ridiculous numbers AT BAYLOR. Better numbers than both Barkley AND Luck (except for Barkleys TD's (39 vs 36). My favorite stat is RGIII was also sacked 23 times to Luck and Barkley's 9 and 7 respectively.

I just think you HAVE to have Mathieu. Save scoring TD's on offense, his numbers are pretty comparable to Charles Woodsens when he won it.

Oh man, you would have LAMBASTED me for a post like this as recently as a couple years ago.

With a couple of days reflection, I've decided that they definitely got it right when it comes to the MNC game: The BCS, as currently executed, is supposed to put the two best teams in the game. Mission accomplished.

I know most of you don't care about the Big East (and truth be told neither will I come 2012 season)--but here is the lowdown:

Quote:
The Big East is set to add Boise State, San Diego State, SMU, UCF and Houston as it begins to rebuild its league, with an announcement expected as early as Wednesday, sources confirmed to ESPN.com.

Boise St.
SDSU
SMU
UCF
Houston
Cincy
Louisville
Rutgers
Uconn
S Fla

What a crazy conference.

it bothers me that the Big EAST is going to have teams from as far from the EAST as San Diego State. They're going to have to rename it or I'll start an on-line petition.

I'd like to see RGIII or the Honey Badger win, but I think it might go to Montee Ball if it isn't a career award to Luck.
If you're going to invite a guy like Matt Barkley, than you would have to invite Keenum and Kellen Moore.
I'm actually quite happy they excluded most of the high profile QB's.
I'm not sure Mathieu's punt return in the SEC title game surpasses the stats that Suh put up in the Big 12 title game when he was a finalists, but the victory and being on the best team in the country might be enough to make him a runner-up.
