"All Hail" conatains they dying vestiges of a well-traveled cassette recorder with a single condenser mike - it's travails are noted within the liner notes/inside cover of the disk, and well worth reading.

Save the occasional live-in-studio at a college radio station or two, all of the Mountain Goats songs/singles/albums were recorded onto cheap cassette players in a single take until "Talahassee"....but damn they're good...now I've gotta listen to some.
