Nowhere is completely fuckin ace. It's a great album to listen to in bed on a Sunday morning.

I've listened to Going Blank Again too, but found it rather mediocre.

Saw Ride about 10(+) times, what a great band live.

One time I was visting San Francisco, out drinking and heard them playing from the street, the guy let us in to see the end of that show.

probably one of my top 5 favorite bands ever. they were actually what brought me out of lurkdom on the cmj boards. i was so upset about the current state of music after having just purchased and listened to the ride box set, that i had to post. "will it ever be like 1991 again???"

3 years later....

Actually I'm listening to Whitey's 'Leave It All Behind' right now. It's not actually credited to Ride anywhere on the album but I believe it is a electronica-ized cover version of the classic Ride track because it sounds to close to the original for it to be a coincidence.

1991 was a golden age that will probably not come back. I wish I had known how good things were at the time.

i love the song "cool your boots" from going blank again, but hell, there are so many stellar ride tracks it's hard to pick a favorite.

what's your favorite ride track?

I got the purple ep when it came out, but I don't remember being able to discern one song from any of the others. I got the follow-up album, with the "S" shaped wave on it, which was not as good as the purple ep, then some ep that had sharks on it that totally un-memorable save for the sharks on the cover. The purple ep was better than average for the time, but no better than, say, Kitchens of Distinction, or the whole lot of others making different takes on what seemed to be the same album. At least it was better than grunge. I never replaced these after the moving company made off with my CD's.

I lost A - R, about 450 cd's at the time. Fortunately, I had a spreadsheet of my CD library (still need to do this for albums), and was on a corporate-paid move. Our purchasing department put the screws to the moving company, and they cut me a check for $5,500.

If you're ever moving, definitely catalogue your cds/dvds. The market for stolen cd's is huge, and you can sell these things anywhere, so they're stolen frequently. If you can pack the things yourself and move them in your car, that's better. Avoid putting them in the hands of the movers at all costs.

I took my list, and priced everything I could at Tower, Borders, and then Amazon (eBay closed auctions for the stuff I know was collectible/out of print), and submit the claim.

I came out okay, there's only three or four titles I haven't been able to replace yet, some 7 years later.

I didn't have the chance to see Ride live, wish I had. Seeing Mark Gardner live was decent but songs like Vapour Trail don't translate into acoustic versions so well.
