Now, I just got an email from Lin Brehmer (morning DJ at WXRT).
He is going to answer my question tomorrow on his Lin's Bin segment.
7:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. CST
LINK
If you miss the broadcast, they do put up the streaming audio at the above link.

I get a $50 gift card to Spex (toward glasses frames) and a pair of tickets to the McDonald's All American game at the United Center on 3/30.
Nice.

This sounds like the first 90 seconds of a porno

Congrats Todd

My buddy's mom religiously calls in to radio stations and fills out customer satisfaction coupons. She wins something every week. I'd hate to see what her email account looks like though.

So, this morning I just won season 2 of "Spectacle: Elvis Costello With..."
Never seen the show, but it sounds freaking awesome... Elvis interviewing and jamming with a bunch of musicians.
This season:
Bruce Springsteen
Bono & The Edge
John Prine
Lyle Lovett
Levon Helm
Allen Toussaint
and others.

Cool.

Spectacle is great, Todd.

These threads/posts reminds of when I was like 13/14 and the local radio show had a deal where they played snippets of 5 songs and you had to call in and identify the artist and the song and be the first one to get it right.

But you couldn't win more than once in 30 days, so after I burned through my family members, and they changed it to only one win per household in 30 days, I had to give friends names, etc.

I think the best thing we won was $10 at Subway, and once I had to get my brother to drive me to the station to collect, and he picked whatever Cure album has Friday I'm In Love on it. I didn't realize until later they were just giving away freebies no one at the station really wanted.

These prizes are usually pretty good.
And, you can only win once every 6 months.

Thing is, at 5:45 in the morning, there's not too much competition to phone in to win. But, you have to guess the year that the song came out and it can sometimes be pretty obscure.
This morning, the song was "Wishing Well" by Bob Mould. That one wasn't too tough, I didn't think.
Oh, and they just play the song, they don't tell you who or what it is until after it's done playing and somebody has won.

By the way, in case you didn't know, "Wishing Well" was from 1989.
;)

Today I won the special edition CD of
The Who - Quadrophenia

It is easy to get through at 5:45 in the morning.

Again, it's just too easy to win at 5:45 a.m.

There's gotta be some way to get a 5:15 reference in there.

How do they not have your caller id number blocked by now? Or are they all "Whassup Todd" when you call?

Used to be every few months. And, I try not to call in more than every 3 to 4 months or so. Doesn't seem to bother anyone. Oh, and the last thing that I won (that George Harrison book), they wouldn't ship to me. I had to go pick it up, but have not had the chance to get downtown to their offices to pick it up, so I don't really count that one.

This morning it was tickets to a show at the Goodman Theatre and a copy of The Best of The English Beat.

Today it was "Heartbreak a Stranger" by Bob Mould -- 1989
The second time that it's been something from Workbook.

And also passes to a big Dinosaur thing in Rosemont.

Just won a pretty nice prize pack this morning:
• Pair of passes to an advance screening of The Way Way Back
• Pair of passes to Milwaukee Summerfest
• An overnight stay at a waterpark hotel

All for knowing that "Tell Her No" by The Zombies came out in 1965.
