I was listening to At Jittery Joe's today and was wondering if there was any recent news from my favorite recent songwriter?

Last I heard was a story about how he was in Africa, or somewhere, making field recordings of indigenous music. Acting the part of a modern-day Alan Lomax, but isolating himself.

Anyone heard anything?

This article in Creative Loafing from a couple years ago is one of the best pieces of music journalism in recent memory (along w/ Whiney's 24 hrs of Throbbing Gristle, natch). Not really much of an update, but a fascinating look into the band, its disintegration and the effect of its music.

As a side note, I was already thinking about going 2 hrs of Elephant 6 on my radio show tonight. This seals it.

I just ran across this 2002 PFMS interview - it gives a little insight on the field recordings: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/interview ... -hotel-02/

I'm hoping he'll hop on stage at the 40 Watt next Friday w/ his original band, Olivia Tremor Control.

I would've guessed he was working at Starbucks.

If you see him on the street, tell him that we miss him.

I actually heard a very short radio interview with him about 18 months ago on 88.5. Not much to say really; he's not interested in making records, he's a damn weirdo. Acid casuality anyone?

Orange Twin Field Works: Vol. 1 is pretty rad. I'd like to hear some more of his field recordings, but I guess new music from him would be cooler.
