Their previous record actually doesn't do a whole lot for me. Should I still pick this one up? Does it offer anything more that I absolutely have to hear?
I admit, all this fawning does make me curious...

I probably wouldn't call it incredible, but I agree that it's very good and LP is anticipated.

The new record isn't out/hasn't leaked/maybe isn't finished yet.

Just listen to that song posted and see what you think.

Listening now and it's pleasant-enough 2010s indie art pop. Very solid, to be sure, and well-done. But doesn't really do anything that makes it jump out from the crowd of similar-sounding bands.

Sometimes, however, bands like these have a way of working their way under my skin over time. So, I'll not make any final decisions about this for a little while.

Todd, have you heard Teen Dream? That record is basically flawless. Give it more listens to sink in.

I own Teen Dream. Again, pleasant, but hasn't made much of an impression; just doesn't grab me when I put it on.

I like the new song but the last album bored me after 4 songs or so.

I agree with those above. They get better and better. Who would you all list as RIYLs?

Forecastle. It's celebrating it's 10th anniversary, with MMJ playing a role in picking bands for the the first time this year.

I'll see them there and thinking of driving down to Birmingham on MAY 11.
