Oasis kingpin Noel Gallagher has quickly revealed his thoughts on the new Oasis album, 'Don't Believe The Truth' and here, as the information conduit we are, is us sharing that information with you...

1. TURN UP THE SUN:
"It's that epic it could've and should've been. The first 3 tracks on the album!! "

2. LYLA:
"It's the soundtrack of our lives doing The Who on Skol in a psychedelic city in the sky (or something)"

3. MUCKY FINGERS:
"The result of one too many nights in the dressing room, brainwashing Gem with The Velvet Underground then thinking "Fuck it! Dylan rules!"

4. LOVE LIKE A BOMB:
"Songbird's bigger, far more interesting brother. One for the ladies, as Liam says. "

5. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IDLE:
"Having nothing to do is such a massive job that someone had to write a song about it. "

6. THE MEANING OF SOUL:
"Elvis on Red Bull!! "

7. GUESS GOD THINKS I'M ABEL:
"Up until two weeks ago, everyone thought the title was "Guess God Thinks I'm Able"!! Now everyone's confused. "

8. PART OF THE QUEUE:
"Doesn't sound remotely like anything we've ever done before. Legendary Cuban percussionist Lenny Castro shuffles up a storm. Amazing. "

9. KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE:
A Song that totally does justice to the title. Will be a live staple for years to come.

10. A BELL WILL RING:
"Ringo's favourite. Enough said."

11. LET THERE BE LOVE:
Should've been the last 4 tracks on the album. It took 7 years to finish. Worth the wait?? Oh yes!!

Illuminated? mmm?
hmm.

The record is out on May 31th on Epic...

You know, I've heard and posted "Lyla" here and I've come to the conclusion that Oasis sounds great at first, then ok, but by the third listen you'd be happy not to hear it ever again.

Their songs are immediately catchy but have zero staying power.

Yeah, I agree with Dalen. "Lyla" didn't grab me at first, but the more I hear it, the more I like it. I've heard mixed reviews of this new Oasis album...I'll keep an open mind until I hear it for myself.

Call me Mr Fussy but I'll stick to the two albums I already have. Love Liam and Noel though.

i posted this after south pacific put up the "lyla" track (which i like). i'm sure i'll buy the album, declare it "decent" and put on the shelf, only to be pulled out every couple of years out of curiousity.
i'm never upset or disgusted when i hear oasis, but i'm also never inclined to purposefully put it on, besides definitely, maybe.

I missed the posting of the new song; Could anyone YSI for me? I'm interested, although I haven't liked a lot of Oasis over the last several years, I'm always hopeful for another Definitely Maybe.

Thanks! I'm going to have to agree with the 'meh'. It's not doing it for me, reminds of their 'Standing on the Shoulders of Giants' stuff.

I like Lyla, but I don't think anything they do will ever hit me like (What's The Story) Morning Glory. One of my fave albums ever, and still a great party/postparty record. And I love these guys, no matter what at least they bring it.

I think Oasis should try to add more electronic elements to their music just as Blur did. Think Tank made me appreciate Blur all over again and it only seems logical that Oasis should try something new as well. I mean, the only Oasis albums you really need are What's The Story (Morning Glory) and The Masterplan because the rest of their discography is simply the band going through the motions making sub par songs.

I hope it’s a good album and like the description of songs. Rock and Roll needs bands like Oasis and they sound good on the radio compared to most of that junk. Plus they have Andy Bell (formally of Ride) and Gem, which should make them better but hasn’t worked out that way yet.

Personally feel that I have grown out of them because I bought Heathen Chemistry but never ever played it. I do remember that feeling I got when they first came on to the scene. Though I owned the 'Supersonic' and 'Shakermaker' EP’s, was not prepared to be that overwhelmed by Definitely Maybe. Putting it on and having "Rock 'n' Roll Star" come on and just remember turning it up and up and up. So this is what Adorable were trying to do but never succeeded at it. It was the opposite of grunge and felt like a breath of fresh air. I knew it wasn’t original or anything but sounded good nonetheless.

The best thing about Oasis is their EP’s because of the B-sides. So I probably like The Masterplan best but have never heard that sequence because I own all those singles already. They did leave off some great songs like “Whatever” and all the B-sides except two from Be Here Now sessions which are much better songs then the ones on that album.

np: Oasis – Definitely Maybe

Yeah I have nothing against Oasis but you don't need to own anything more then the first two albums.

I do love Oasis too, essential listening is Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory and The Masterplan. And you're right, great party records as well. Some of Heathen Chemistry was pretty damn good too. But you've got to admit that outside of "D'You Know What I Mean", Be Here Now was not the Event that Noel claimed it would be (The date of the release is stenciled in big letters inside the cd jacket, for god's sake). But it wasn't because of backlash, but because the songs just weren't as great as the first two albums. I think if I ever heard 'All Around the World Again' I'd snatch my fucking eyes out. The less said about Standing on the Shoulders of Giants the better. One will never willingly play this album to get people enthusiastic, let's just say.

Because of those first two albums and their b-sides, I will always tune in, I'll probably get this damn album too, because there's going to be a couple good songs on it. Maybe even Lyla will stick in my head, who knows.

All this Oasis talk is making me what to play Definitely Maybe extremely loud later on.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell no!!! Oasis are a rock and roll band. It's lad rock. They're not experimental, they're straight ahead rock and roll in the purest of senses. Going electronic is without a doubt THE WORST move they could ever make, and I trust that Noel would never let that happen.

Also, IMO, Think Tank destroyed any evidence of quality Blur had left. Coxon proved that with the release of his solo album last year.

I read a couple of funny things about Be Here Now recently:

1. Noel said that in retrospect, he should've held onto some of those great b-sides like 'Masterplan', 'Stay Young' and 'Rockin Chair' for the 3rd album.

2. When they were making it, all their hangers-on kept saying 'Yeah, it's great!' And they believed it until Noel played Be Here Now for Paul Weller, who said: "This is rubbish. You can't release it. Start again." Apparently, Noel tried to at the 11th hour, but the record company refused.
