Craft can alert! 12'ers of Cisco "Indie" Pale Ale now available in GA. Picked some up and I like it--perfect mix of drinkability and bite which is what I like out of a can. Derris maybe can correct me here, but I think this might be the first Cisco beer to be available down here.

I've certainly never seen it down here BUT I checked the Cisco website and it shows that a place called Prime Wine and Spirits in Doraville carries their Baileys Blonde, Indie Pale Ale, Sankaty Light Lager, Summer of Lager, and Whales Tale Pale Ale. Who knew?

Field trip to Doraville, then. Bring a weapon.

Follow up. Turns out that place in Doraville is a distributor and not a retail store. I called them to check their hours and the girl ended up asking what I was looking for and she told me where to get some of the Cisco stuff:

Total Wine - Perimeter
Hop City - but she couldn't tell me what they were getting
Mac's Beer & Wine - on Peachtree Place between Spring and W. Peachtree

I picked up a 12 pack cans of the Whale's Tale and a 12 pack cans of the Summer of Lager at Mac's after work yesterday. I'm ready for the lake this weekend. They also had the Indie Pale Ale as well.

Sweet. I might hit up the Total Wine near work as I am leaving for the beach and have been amassing cans for the trip.

Speaking of hoppy trippels...picked up a Green Flash Le Freak. Man, this is a really fucking good beer but maybe not the best choice for a weeknight. I felt fine this AM but had my doubts last night--thing will knock you on your ass.

I've come to realize I really only need one 15oz swingtop of that hoppy tripel homebrew an evening. That plus one normal beer and I can feel it the next day a little bit. Shit must be 10%.

Redneck Riviera beer update...

The liquor store near our condo that I was pleased to discover has a decent beer selection last year now pours growlers. M wife predicted "i bet at least one of their taps is Bud Light or Coors Light", but no, no such luck: they've got a couple of local offerings, Sierra Hoptimum, Summer Shanty and one that was empty when i popped in. I didn't get anything yet, but I'm looking forward to trying a local or two.

Speaking of Summer Shanty, rednecks fucking LOVE them some Summer Shanty. Holy shit.

Also, odds that I will leave for New Orleans with one of them plastic gallon milk jugs full of Hoptimum is about even right now.

Holy fuck, large quantities of Hoptimum could be dangerous.

Speaking of, I wanted a little bit more last night and all I have in fridge is the tripel, so I cracked open a 12oz brown bottle, and it was perfect. Full carbonation, nice 3/4" head on it, and it was GOOD. Really, honestly, "give this to someone else and tell them you made it without flinching" good. I originally intended to drink half and then cap it, but I couldn't stop. Now I am hung over. I feel a little better knowing what the beer could've been, if carbonated well.

Well, mine's been sitting in my fridge ever since I got it. I've waited this long, I think I'll wait until Athens to open it. That way I can ravage it to your face.

Or praise it I guess.

I made a shandy a week or so ago with Pretty Things American Darling and some good organic lemonade. It was tasty but I just wanted a plain ol beer afterwards.

Restocked a little again yesterday:

1 Brasserie Trois Dames "l'Amoureuse Blanche" Wild Ale aged in White Wine Barrels, Switzerland 330ml @ $6.99

1 Brasserie Trois Dames "l'Amoureuse Rouge" Wild Ale aged in Red Wine Barrels, Switzerland 330ml @ $7.99

1 Firestone Walker "Wookey Jack" Black IPA, California 22oz @ $5.99

1 Lost Abbey/New Belgium "Mo' Betta Bretta" Sour Blonde, California 12.7oz (1 bottle limit) @ $8.49

3 Dogfish Head "90 Minute" IPA, Delaware 12oz @ $2.75

2 Mahr's Pilsner, Germany 500ml @ $5.99

2 Stone Brewing Company Smoked Porter w/Chipotle Peppers, California 12oz (3 bottle limit) @ $2.49

3 Stone Brewing Company Smoked Porter w/Vanilla Bean, California 12oz (3 bottle limit) @ $2.49

Still drinking down my big pliny stash so haven't had that many new things despite the "need" to restock.

Had the Wookey Jack Black IPA on tap over the weekend and really liked it. A nice smokey flavor to it. Also had a Mahr's Helles Lager, a golden lager from a small craft brewery in germany. It's a pretty nice, simple and good summer drinking beer. I finally had Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA recently too. I'm sure most of you have already had that but I liked it especially for the price.

Nice. I've looked at the Lost Abbey stuff a hundred times and pulled the trigger on a couple of the Devotion Ales last Sunday.

It was a nice, subtle Belgian Pale Ale that was perfect with the "wine & cheese" set up I had it with at a sit down concert.

Certainly made me want to check out some of their other offerings.

I have questions about PCB and how it looks these days, Bloor. And the fact that you can get decent beer there, much less in growlers, tells me things must've changed.

We stay way down at the west end of the beach, really closer to Rosemary Beach and Seaside than the center of PCB--it's a little more civilized.

Is the center still what it was in 1999?

Not at all. Much more corporate, lots of high rise condos. Since they ran off the MTV spring break crowd it's gotten back to more of what it was when I was a kid--a place for families to vacation. That most of those families are mutants from places like Woodstock, GA and Prattville, AL hasn't changed a bit. The beaches are still beautiful and where we stay, there is barely anyone on them. Having a family now too, I really enjoy the hell out of it, terrible tattoos of the other people in the pool notwithstanding.

Wow.

My stepdad had a company condo RIGHT in the center of town back in elementary school (mid 80's), and we went every summer for a week. It was incredible, so clean and quiet. Fast forward to 91 or so, and mom was like "let's go back to PCB, kids!" Awful. Trawling at 0.05mph down the strip in traffic trying to get to the hotel, drunken 18 yr old kids everywhere jumping on the car and cat calling my sister.

so that Birthday Suit i feel was probably a great "intro to Sours" type of beer. it was easily the sour i've enjoyed the most thus far - including the Consecration. but before you go crying blasphemy bg...i could tell the Consecration was something special. i just don't think i was ready for it. it's my typical problem with sours - i really enjoy the first 4-5 sips, then the enjoyment goes downhill. i think you mentioned that you had one that was a year or so old, so i had planned on grabbing another and cellaring, but unfortunately they were all out.

i enjoyed the Wookey Jack as well. the spice of the rye added a nice bite to it. i wish i could get your prices though.

the Saison-Brett was really good too, and i grabbed another to try later to see how that funk changes over a year.

latest pick-ups:

Image

i've only had the Saison Diego so far, which was just ok.

Well I can't really call blasphemy as I've never tried Birthday Suit. I see that my wine shop still has a bunch in stock though so I will rectify that. I can absolutely see sours being an acquired taste - they are very different from most beer styles and really have almost as much in common with wine as they do with beer which is probably why I took to them so quickly and why I think they probably benefit from aging.

Was surprised to stumble on this yesterday at Whole Foods:

I bought one bottle as it was $15.99, but I probably should (and will) buy a bunch more and track how it changes with age. It looks its going through Sierra Nevada's distribution channel so those outside CA can get RR for a change.

Nice beeg. Thanks for the heads up. I'd wager my local shop will get it at some point. We get all of SN's big beer stuff.

Yesterday was the official release date but in searching for the photos to post I saw some blogs saying that they were available in NC so it probably won't be long before you start seeing them.
