What is semi-dry exactly? Certain business can't sell certain types of alcohol (no liquor at grocery stores, for example)?

Either beer/wine and no liquor or possibly buy but not serve by the drink.

All of OR is that way but shows as wet. Dunno what semi dry is.

In AL semi-dry is beer and wine no liquor.

So as far as the rhetoric ladder goes, is the top rung seccession? And how far up is that rung?

This.

Although, despite being a Christian myself, I'm pretty repulsed by CFA's stance and was extremely embarrassed by all of those lemmings who went there yesterday.

Everything is black and white with those fundamentalist types - there is no gray. They continue to try and force their concept of morality on the rest of the world, rather than actually just live by God's teachings. They justify everything with a highlighter and a Bible - just ridiculous.

In the same vein of Bono's "The God I believe in isn't short of cash," the God I believe in doesn't practice hate.

I quit spending money at Chick-Fil-A earlier this year, well before this last blow-up. I can't police every single dollar I spend or I'd go nuts, but I do what I can where I can. I also don't care if you are like my brother who isn't anti-homosexual anything but doesn't care where CFA spends their money or what they say. Mine is a personal choice, that's all.

But, for these people that are flaunting their CFA sandwiches on a day promoted by the Huckabees, Palins and Santorums* out there, in the name of free speech, well, that's just (1) assholish behavior and (2) the exact opposite of "standing up for what you believe in" when you contort this into a First Amendment issue. No one is advocating throwing Dan Cathy in prison for what he said. If you are against same-sex marriage, if you think Pray The Gay Away works, if you think homosexual activity should be outlawed and/or same-sex couples should be prohibited from being parents, then fucking own it.

Or, if it really is a coordinated defense of the First Amendment, then I expect each and one of these people to show up to support the Westboro Baptist Church protesting a soldier's funeral, waffle fries in hand. But we all know it's not.

*Nevermind the giant irony of religious politicians who openly campaign on censoring art, music and pornography stomping the ground in the name of the first amendment.

Whoa! All of us outside the Chalmette area refer to that simply as "da Parish". I can believe 14 yo's drinking there. Actually, the number of rural convenience stores that actually ID is pretty small anywhere in this area. Those Chalmatians sure can cook some seafood, though. Unfortunately, every sentence that the male speaks ends in "brah".

Where I was in Louisiana it meant beer & some wine was okay, below a certain ABV%. Liquor was prohibited in the city, but allowed in the Parish (county). We couldn't buy beer at all on Sunday, but thirty minutes in either direction you could by beer or beer & liquor, depending on the local laws. City bars/stores stopped selling at midnight, parish at 2 am.

I'm pretty sure it's all wet now, liquor included, but probably still closed on Sunday.

Not my best wording, I know - I just meant they use the Bible as a rule book which they've deputized themselves to enforce, rather than a guide by which to live (probably also not ideal wording, but hopefully you get my point).

LOL@this. In my Louisiana you can buy copious amounts of any liquor at any time day or night 24/7/365... and it's available at almost every place with 4 walls and a roof.

The dad from Chalmette was a delta pilot who lived near me in GA, and everytime he could he'd have a stopover in LA. He'd go to the docks, buy a huge cooler of seafood, then bring it aboard and park it next to the captain's chair for the whole ride home.
