All he has to do is sit behind the three point line and fire...somewhat of a liability on the defensive end, but his shooting no doubt makes up for it.

which is all the Heat need.

Olympics predictions?

Gold: USA
Silver: Brasil
Bronze: Nigeria (shocker!) over Lithuania

UK? Goes 2-1 to advance to medal round (wins over Russia, China; tight loss to Spain), then eliminated by US in first elimination game. But they'll throw a start into our side. US won't have game in hand 'til Luol Deng fouls out with five minutes left, & after a 38 pts, 15 boards, 5 blocks performance. Final score: US 103, UK 91.

He's just another feather in the ATL's sporting cap. What's not to love?

I know its not unusual overseas or for the preseason, but this is definitely going to set a precedent for other leagues if it proves to be a financial win. I just hate to see a uniform sullied by a corporate sponsor. I can't stand the thought of the Celtics' unis having a Coke symbol on it.

And yeah, I understand the massive amount of subconscious ads you see when you watch a game--but I think this crosses a certain threshold. I wonder how this plays into players that have sponsorship deals? Like if someone has a Coke sponsorship and Pepsi is on their jersey, etc.

Pretty huge multi-team trade being discussed right now:

Lakers would get Dwight Howard from Magic & Al Harrington from the Nuggets
Magic would get Pau Gasol from Lakers and Aron Affalo from the Nuggets
Nuggets would get Andre Iguodala from Philadelphia
Philadelphia would get Bynum from the Lakers

Not sure why Magic would prefer this to other packages discussed but I can see why all of the other teams would do it. Interesting for sure though.

Pau Gasol and Affalo for a Dwight who is likely to walk anyway might be as good as the Magic can hope for at this point. Although, what a fucked up situation for them.

Not sure the 76ers get much better there...

Big winner, as always, fucking Lakers. Goddamnit.

Igoudala's pretty good, but the Nuggets still kind of take it up the ass on that deal.

I disagree. I think it's a clear winner for Denver.

re: rogneeb's comments:

It's not that the package is so terrible on its face but it seems like a poor fit with Orlando's needs. Gasol is 32 and Orlando is rebuilding. I don't know why they wouldn't prefer Bynum or draft picks. Also I thought they'd try to force someone to take back either Turkuqlu or Richardson.

Not sure swapping out Iguodala for Bynum makes the 76ers better in the near term but a top center is a rarer commodity than a good shooting guard. I'd probably do that trade if I was Philadelphia.

Anyway, this is just a strong rumor. Who knows if it will end up happening.

Lakers win that trade but it definitely makes Philly more interesting.

Are you biased against Pau or Bynum? Because it's Bynum that Philly would get.

I've been sorta hoping that the Hawks would trade Josh Smiff for Pau. They are both head cases but I feel like Pau can be a hell of a lot more dominant and consistent.

All the draft picks the Sixers have been making made no sense with Igoudala on the team, so if they are ever going to find out if the young guys are good this is a great move. It might not work out, but this years flukey run was the ceiling of what they were going to achieve with Igoudala.

(this is based on reading about the sixers, talking to my dad and watching about 4 quarters of actual basketball. But my dad watches almost every game and I trust his opinion)

I don't disagree with your dad. The Sixers are an intriguing team and I'm not much of an Iggy fan so this seems like a good move for them.

I have no hate towards Lin and have made the effort to watch him play.

Nice distraction and potentially a top 10 point guard (not an insult) but he needs to clean up his passing and I think he's going to fuck everything up for new york because their fans and ownership are retarded.

If the Knicks don't come back with Stoudamire and Anthony and blow out the first 4 teams they play NO ONE will be happy.

best case scenario: hope that Lin is really an NBA level point guard unlike Schumpert and Bibby and Douglas etc.

he's proving that easily

now prove that he's not just the beneficiary of more shots and opportunities.

I think that on paper Lin/Amare/Melo/Chandler should have A LOT of chemistry. Lin is a bad scorer and point guard but will catch people off guard by doing the opposite of what they expect. He's going to score 25 when good point guards are on him and probably still line up Melo and Amare for 20 points.

Just don't kill the chemistry between he and Tyson Chandler. Chandler knows how to turn and dunk which makes him efficient on offense.

Still 2012 as far as I'm aware.
