Good call. The scene where he's covered in Vaseline is too much. They marketed that movie all wrong. I mean, it's a Carl Hiassen book, which are all about corrupt power destroying his beautiful homestate of Florida, and they pushed the movie as "COME SEE DEMI MOORE'S TITS"

I'd love to see more Hiassen novels made into movies.

One of my favourite movies of all time is Stick.

He makes Boogie Nights. He is a god in that movie and many others.

If Burt had done Rhinestone instead of Sly it would have not been one of the worst movies ever made. That there's fact.

How could you forget Deliverance? He also played a pretty good role in Citizen Ruth.

I was mainly posting his monger roles, but yah, he's ace in Deliverance as well. I was kind of tainted on that movie by a 12th Grade teacher with a James Dickey fixation.

"Taint", "Dickey" and "12th Grade teacher" all in the same sentence. No wonder you think the pope should burn in hell.

easy bubba. I am just a believer in the public trust, but even though I am a Cath-O-Lic, I was never an altar boy, nor mongered.

If that was supposed to be a comedy it failed dismally. As an unintentionally funny drama, however, it's up there with Showgirls.

Showgirls was stupid, labored and pretentious, saved only by Gina Gershon. Esterhaus is an unbearable hack.

Striptease was much more clever.

That's putting it mildly, did you ever see City Heat?

Burt's problem is that instead of acting he began playing his persona.

Although, admittedly, that never hurt Jack Nicholson

Yeh, you've mentioned this before. I just don't buy it. Both flicks are ill-conceived messes that tried to play the satire card when their producers realized they were too assinine to work as drama. And besides, "more clever than Showgirls" is like saying "more sane than Gary Busey" - it might be true, but it's not really much of an accomplishment.

I'd have to agree with this, I've seen this flick a couple of times now and I can't say I laughed much. Burt was good in it though.

Consider the source for Showgirls, as I mentioned above, Carl Hiassen. An acerbic wit, and the book is a satire of florida culture, that movie kinda glossed over.

Rads, you might like Hiassen. Check out Skinny Puppy.
