comment from the Cracked article, 3 Ways Green Day Just Had the Least Punk Rock Meltdown Ever

Quote:
Lay off the guy! He is a crazy mother f****r and always has been. Give the man credit where he deserves it. He single handedly took the subculture of a forgotten music genre and revived it to the point that "3 generations" of people later can still identify the band and their work. Tell me that's easy to do when everything around him has turned to vocal studio magic, electronic, factory mass-produced, garbage that ANYONE can do as long as they have a pretty face and the ability to lip sync. It wasn't the music industry suits that elevated Green Day to the status they are today, it's the millions of fans. The majority of his early work was written before he was even 18! Talk about teenage angst. This isn't the first time he's freaked out. Anyone remember when Nimrod was released in Times Square and Billie Joe went berserk, mooned everyone, broke a bunch of s**t, and spray paint f**k NIMROD all over the Toward Town Record store during a set Green Day was playing? That was in 1997.

Every single one of their songs follows the ideologies of "punk". Three piece band, loud, distorted, lack of melody or any musical structure, crude shallow introspective lyrics revolving around the status quo, personal disfunction, non-conformity and anti-authority within society and politics.

Even though they're old with families, they can still put on a hell of a show and put to shame so many new bands that don't have a prayer to accomplish what Green Day has and guaranteed to never last as long as Green Day has.

I welcome the insanity.

Who can be surprised about this?

Mike Love fires rest of Beach Boys except Johnston.

I may have mentioned before that my office is across the street from Stankonia, Outkast's recording studio. I've never actually seen either of them around there or been over there since we moved here in June, but hopefully I can get the tour someday.

Anyway, a little while ago Cee-Lo pulled up in our back parking lot in a chrome Rolls Royce. There's a recording studio back there (not part of Stankonia), and that's where he is right now.

Damn. Is that in King Plow?

I remember a few months ago, there being about a half dozen crew trailers lined up on Marietta along King Plow. I thought it was Walking Dead related. Guessing now that it was Outkast related?

No, we used to be in King Plow. We're still in the west side of midtown, but up closer to where the Kroger is on Howell Mill.

There's all sorts of shit that goes on at King Plow. It can get pretty irritating if you're just trying to get in and out of work every day. That's a big part of why we moved.

Q: How many bass players does it take to change a light bulb?

= best part. I know when I hear American Idiot, it's just a big confusing jumble of screeching noise with no structure or melody.

I don't really think it looks like her at all.
