Memphis Millions
Stopped by a thrift store on my way home. It was a tragic scene with what looked to have at one time been an excellent soul/funk collection that had subsequently been flooded over and about 99% of it was covered in mold, broken records lying loose and a big mess. But, there were a couple outliers that were looking decent. This one had a semi-rough cover but the vinyl inside was perfectly good, not a scratch. A little dirt cleaned off and it's playing right now, quiet as a mouse. Anyway, it's a great 1973 Stax records compilation with a ton of great stuff on it. Here's the tracklist:

Theme from Shaft
Respect Yourself
In the Rain
Show Me How
Bring it on Home
Melting Pot
California Girl
Hearsay
Ive Fallen in Love (with You)
Mr Big Stuff

going to see the Byrne/St Vincent show tonight at the Ryman. Has anyone seen any of the shows on the tour? This GY!BE album came seemingly out of nowhere... Nonetheless, I'm excited

two different ends of the musical spectrum

Spotify:
The Men - Open Your Heart (kind of ugly, Replacements-esque, noise-pop meets twang influence?)
Hammock - Departure Songs (ambient, cinematic, gorgeous music)

Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires

Still on a bit of a dub kick and this one is perfect for October. Another all-time favorite dub album as well. Shaking the walls a bit right now.
