I applied for a job at Night Shift. And tuesday of next week I'm having a few beers after work with a guy at Sam Adams... a friend of my wife's knows him and introduced us. Told him I just wanted to pick his brain. Would really like one of these to pan out so I can start making half the money.

Anybody tried the Uinta "Birthday Suit" Sour Brown? I picked one up earlier.

Description:
Quote:
Brewed in celebration of Uinta’s 20th Birthday, this American Style Sour Brown Ale flaunts significant acidity balanced by flavorful Abbey and Chocolate malts and a modest amount of hops. A distinct tartness on the palate combines with notes of toffee and earthiness.

Today is Mead Day. I will be attending my homebrew club’s annual mead making event later this afternoon, but I will not be making any for myself. I enjoy it, but not enough to waste $50 on honey.
I went to a tapping party for Laughing Dog last night. I tried their Sneaky Pete Imperial IPA and their regular IPA. They were both malt forward and less hop aggressive than most IPAs out there, and the ABV in the Imperial IPA was boosted by clover honey.
I would consider buying a $6 bomber of the Imperial IPA, but I wouldn’t drink either of them regularly.

I had a Boulevard 80 (that hopped wheat beer) and a Founders All Day IPA, both new to me, as I was out Friday evening. Both were predictably great sixpack beer,s but the Founders was the standout. Gigantic late hop nose and great malt character, but in such a light / delicate delivery around 4.5% ABV I think? That would be a spectacular "lake weekend rental house" keg.

I love both of those. All that's missing is them being in cans.

The 80 Acre is the first semi-hoppy beer that FemDerris has really bought in with. I can buy a 12 pack of that, throw it in the fridge and she'll pull from it as well.

That list...

I would need three weeks and 2 more livers to enjoy all of it. That's incredible.

Damn. How are they going to accommodate all that?

Are they taking over that parking lot right next door?

It was crowded the day we were there and it was for just one tapping (albeit Pliny the Younger).

It's inside and out with an alley and small back lot in addition to the inside space. At least that's what they did last time.

I prefer 21st Amendment Bitter American for that job. And it comes in cans.

Speaking of, Uinta's Hop Notch IPA is now available in cans.

Oh yeah? From what I remember of Bitter American it was, well, more bitter. True?

I don't think it's overwhelmingly bitter, but it is more hop forward than All Day IPA and I think a half a percent or so less alcohol. I A/B'd them a while back and definitely prefer the Bitter American. YRMV.

Very. And timely, given the two conversations I'm having this evening with a guy from Sam Adams and then Night Shift. I made a big pitch about quality control in my application, so seeing Founders call that out is nice.

It's the best beer bar in Waterbury. Kind of a dive but decent food and a terrific list. They had 3 H-F beers on when we went including Double Galaxy.

Pro Pig's list was pretty goddamn incredible, I have a hard time imagining someone topping it. It wasn't 120 beers, but it was at least 50, and they were fucking curated. Not a dud on the list, other than that Original Formula Miller product that is only probably there to keep dads from having an anneurism. They also had 3 Hill Farm beers, plus two more HF collab beers. I just didn't have the liver to try them all (and drive).

SA guy was very nice, but reinforced my thought that SA is already so big that a job there is no closer to beer than my current one. He too was sorta drooling over the night shift job. I must make it mine.
