:::first listen:::

Angie - Really great string arrangements and performances here.

Don't Worry Gina - Fun little strutty one. Lead guitar lick could probably come up a little bit.

Every Day - Immediately struck me as a very well done hangover song.

I Don't Know - Great interplay between the horns, bari sax and strings. Also, the vocal effect. Do it more.

I Fail Myself - 100% Phil McCartney. Dig it.

If We Couldn't - Maybe it's my computer speakers, but when you lead into a chorus by dropping down on the "you/your" low note, it sounds sonically detached from the rest of the piece. Like they were punched in and accidentally got dropped from the efx chain. Or something.

Nothing Is Connected - So happily despondent. Good lyrics here. Drums could cut through a little more. Not louder, just a little brighter maybe?

Talk - Tight rhythm section. Great vocal round robin at the end.

Overhead - This is the one that will get you laid. Or signed to Bloodshot Records.

Singalong - You should open the album with this one. Just...a thought.

The Wedding Song - Scrumptiously twee. It's like that big beautiful beard of yours is right in my ear <3 <3 <3

Good job, Phil. I'd be proud of this.

Also, I don't Know has bass harmonica, not bari sax. Cool, huh?

I had a dream last night that RS had a list of 100 songs by completely indepedent artists that you hadn't heard of that you ought to hear, and i was tied for the last spot with the wedding song. I don't usually dream at all, or if i do, i usually don't remember any of it, and this was fairly vivid. My phone dinged with some kind of fb notification and someone posted the link and tagged me. I looked at it, thought that was pretty cool, but I'd check it in the morning since it was like 2 am and my alarm was set for 5. As I was actually waking up, i thought, nah, must have been some cruel dream. And it was. Then I went to the gym, but I was bummed because it sure did seem real for a sec.

WAVs got sent out to Kickstarter supporters last night.

If that's you and the automated email didn't come through, please let me know.

Loved it.
You should be goddamn proud, Phil!

Thanks Todd! I'm too tired to be anything other than tired at the moment, but at least i'm too tired to feel incredibly anxious.

What about the mp3s? Just wondering if I should download all these wav files individually, convert, and rename them now, or if I should wait.

The original mediafire link had me all Grampa Simpson this morning. Everything I could possibly think to click to download it wanted to install spammy looking programs. Like fucking .exe's. Nossir. But the later dropbox link is fine, that send the whole album as a zip file.

Yeah I had downloaded the zip file last night and tried to unzip it but no luck and then saw Phil's other e-mail so I just downloaded all the individutal wav files and then converted them to mp3's. I had listened to the unmastered files last week and thought it sounded great. I'm going to listen to it a bit more this week.

From Ken Stringfellow's web site:
Ken Stringfellow Wrote:
The stuff sounds dynamite….a mix of early solo Paul MacCartney, the intersection of New Wave and Oklahoma that we hear in Dwight Twilley & 20/20; Leon Russell, and who knows what else. I love the tracks and in fact, it’s proven hard to overdub on–the tracks sound perfect as is... I feel that on this session my musicality rose to the occasion.

If that doesn't make you feel good, I don't know what the hell will.
Words like that about you from one of your musical idols, with whom you finally get to work.
Damn.

As much as I love the Raspberries, Ken Stringfellow is cooler than Eric Carmen.

Figured I'd weigh in. I'm enjoying this so far. There are a few I am pretty sure I have heard live before ("Angie" was very familiar, and I want to say "Talk" is too). I've gone through the full album 3 times as of now, but have also played specific songs a little more than that. So far my top 3 from the album are as follows, but that could change later:

1. Nothing is Connected (this is going on my Feb 2014 mix for sure)
2. Sing Along Until You Feel Better
3. Angie

Good job, Phil.

Hi Phil…yep, still in North Austin. Been living with the girlfriend since late 2011. Still working for the same tech giant, and still doing so in a modest capacity.

I met a guy quite a ways back who said he played drums on your album. I think he said his name is Aaron(?)

Where in Austin are you nowadays?

Ehren Lorfing. His wife works with you?

Near east side, by Hillside Farmacy.

First gig wed. Severely underrehearsed. Ten pm at spider house ballroom. Should be fun, or demoralizing.

Just go out there and have a blast, Phil. Be happy to be rocking!
