I still have mixed feelings on the whole thing. Some of the local stores do really cool community stuff. Live bands, food, drink, and sales are cool. Limited edition bs is not.

Pretty much my take as well but ultimately, if a day like this drives people to record stores, I'm cool with it.

I still go probably once a month or so and peruse the vinyl at my local shops and occasionally pick up a cd.

Drink, I went to the new Sunbrimmer Records in Avondale Estates for RSD. Pretty cool place and the owner, Mike Tyson (not a joke), was really nice and happy to talk records. That's what I dig most about record stores these days. Anyway, he's still figuring out his space and his stock is small but CHOICE. Lots of good finds and he stocks some unique new stuff as well.

I picked up on vinyl:

NRBQ - At Yankee Stadium
AC/DC - Powerage
Spirit - The Family That Play Together
Mingus - Better Git It In Your Soul
Drivin N Cryin - Whisper Tames the Lion

Lastly, THE ROADHOUSE SOUNDTRACK.

That's cool. I think I'd heard there was a new store there, and I'll have to go check it out when I get a chance.

A couple other Atlanta places that I didn't go to but wish I had on RSD are Wuxtry and Fantasyland. I haven't been to Fantasyland in many, many years, not since before they moved, but I've heard it's pretty big. I usually find something cool at Wuxtry, too, but I probably go there once a year.

I've also been meaning to go back to Ella Guru. I think it's been nearly a year now since I've been. They reopened on Lavista, sort of in North Decatur, a little over a year ago, and they had a pretty nice selection of used vinyl the few times I went. It's strictly a used vinyl store now, nothing else.

Where did Fantasyland move to? I remember going there in the early 90's to buy things like Bauhaus live vinyl bootlegs.

It's still in Buckhead, on Pharr Rd. now. I haven't actually seen the current location, but I don't think it's very far from where it was. It used to be in the Garden Hills shopping center on Peachtree right?

I'm not sure what it was called, it was a pretty small little strip, right on Peachtree.

Went yesterday, they had a ton of stuff, including the Surfer Blood vinyl, which I purchased. Also grabbed Laid out of the dollar bin.
