some fine vinyl finds at the boots yesterday, a lot of Blues & Folk LP's and some weird oddities, like this...

Image
released in 1975 there is more than a shade of Python & The Holy Grail on some tracks
listen here : http://www.mediafire.com/listen/0fcsms7gg07v0s6/Company_Of_Knights.mp3

Image
10" EP from 1958 shame about the tape around the edges but the vinyl is sweet

Image
the pick of a run of Marble Arch re-issues

Image
Coventry based singer/songwriter Folk from 1971

Image
just had to pick this 7" up, but what a shame it's utter shite!

Image
got those MFP budget issue Blues

Image
a gentle Acid Folky duo LP from 1971 on Trailer. the tree is sparing the lady's width, a bit

Image

I had never come across this before, also released on Trailer Records in 1970
the rear of the sleeve below, there is an excellent version of Alison Gross on side 1

He had good taste in guitars. That's a Gibson "Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe" model, made from 1934 to 1943. People go apeshit about Smecks these days, as much as pre-war Martins. Jackson Browne uses one, I think. (Squirrgle goes and googles it) YEP. Here's jackson playing a Smeck Stage Deluxe, same model.

Jackson Brown is the type of dude who plays a different, incredibly rare and desirable guitar on every song...the article on him in Fretboard Journal was...impressive

I like "doctor my eyes" because it's awesome
and I like "somebody's baby because it makes me think of boning in a dugout.

I like "Somebody's Baby" because it's just a great pop song, period.

I like his song "something fine" for that lyric

"and California's shaking like an angry child will who has asked for love and is unanswered still"

sure it's cheese, but paired with the melody at that point in the song, and that velveeta becomes the finest queso, and I'm a tortilla chip.

I needed to watch Silicon Valley after that scene because I didn't want that to be the last image I saw before going to bed. Just brutal.

Also, did you see this? Lena Headey posted a spoiler about that scene on her Instagram account 2 months ago: http://www.vulture.com/2014/06/how-lena ... rones.html

I love "The Pretender"...and the other ones mentioned here arent half bad either

I went through a pretty long period where I hated Jackson Browne, or the idea of Jackson Browne or something, but dude is ok. Not a favorite, but not as terrible as a lot of his contemporaries. Also, pretty heavily responsible for Warren Zevon having a career so there's that.

And man, that skull crushing was some shit. Holy fuck.

Also, love or hate any of the parties involved, but there's the Jackson Browne SRV Texas Flood connection

That too, but it's nearly impossible for me to hear that song and not think of Fast Times.

same with "Moving in Stereo"

did Crowe and Heckerling ever work together again?

I've been pretty lucky with avoiding spoilers for GoT so far (I usually watch episodes 2-3 days after they air), but I saw the comments about "skull crushing" in this thread yesterday and pretty much knew what was going to happen.

When I finally got around to watching the episode last night, I kept trying to convince myself that maybe it could be some other character, but nope, it was exactly as I suspected. Still, gut wrenching, and I wouldn't say it was "spoiled" for me. I'm actually kinda glad I had a little preparation for that.

how timely to find this LP today, the soldier front left actually looks a bit like my grandad,
but he only killed folk in Burma and North Africa

And

One of the best uses of (diegetic) "rock" music in a movie

The whole album is great, but especially that song and "For a Dancer"
