I think that backbeat on Black & White Town sounds more like a copy/paste of the outro on The The's Uncertain Smile.

I need to get this and the one previous, Lost Souls would make my best of 00-05

And, as always, nice reveiwin' Bobbo...way to keep 'em comin.

I really like Doves and I like the title track a lot, but I've found the rest of this album either boring or annoying.

There are a few tracks that are ok, but nothing great.
Souls and Broadcast are way better than this record.

It's pretty good, but it left my immediate rotation pretty quickly after a week. I should give it another listen soon. Acutally, I should listen to Last Broadcast again too.

So far, Doves are ranked equally with Arcade Fire as #1 show of the year.

Enjoying this record so far but haven't fully assimilated it yet. "Black And White Town" is ace.

The fact that this Doves loving group is so-so on the record is a clear indication that I don't need to bother.

Any nudge to get people to remember or discover "Uncertain Smile" is fine with me. The fact that "Black And White Town" is a good song is cool, too.

wrong. don't write it off after reading peoples comments. decide for yourself after listening.

you should give it a shot. it's a great album, with 1 low point IMO. it might surprise you.
