Any thoughts on the new Destroyer?

I've never heard any of the Blue Nile records from the 80's so I can't really compare, nor have I heard enough to compare to Roxy, but I can say it does makes for a good companion piece to that Twin Shadow record.

Chinatown had me right a way because the chord progression is ripped from Neil Young's Lotta Love. Instant familiarity with a different melody.

As little as I know of Blue Nile I hear the fit on the jazz side and the Roxy on the Wave side. That Twin Shadow reference makes sense as both bands are pulling from referential sounds for material and both bands being current artists. I'd also say Bejar's is a bit deeper and more complicated measured by the use of a larger array of instruments that add more texture(layers) to the sound giving us even more references.

I'm a fan of every album since Trust...I've learned to just trust him and let him do his thing, sometimes it takes a couple of listens.
