Educational Programming

June 9, 2:00 p.m. - A discussion with Grandmaster Flash at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. During hip-hop's nearly 30-year history, few names have become as well known to music lovers across the globe as that of Grandmaster Flash. His pioneering use of the turntables as a musical instrument, which helped elevate the status of the DJ to a masterful, artistic position, and assembling one of the earliest and greatest rap groups of all time - The Furious Five - are some of the hallmarks of a career which has extended from the Bronx in the mid-1970s to all corners of the globe in the 21st century.
June 9, 5:00 p.m. - A discussion with Seymour Stein at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. The Chairman of Sire Records, Stein co-founded the label in 1966 and has been one of the most successful and influential executives in the music business ever since. His ability to discover new talent led to signings of many groundbreaking artists such as the Ramones, Madonna, the Pretenders, Talking Heads, Seal, Depeche Mode, Ice-T, the Cure, the Smiths, kd Lang and Barenaked Ladies. The label is still going strong after nearly 40 years and still innovative with recent singings including the Von Bondies, HIM, Regina Spektor, the Fags and the Veronicas.
These events are free with Museum admission. More programs to be announced for June 10.
