I brought Led Zeppelin IV to work today. Stairway to Heaven is playing right now and I am officially not sick of it anymore. Years of classic rock radio abuse have worn off. I have not listened to this song in probably seven years. I always skip it when listening to the record.

If I bust out Shout at the Devil tomorrow I'm going to check myself into a clinic.

I look forward to someday being able to listen to my Led Zeppelin, Boston, and Smashing Pumpkins albums.

Growing up in Oklahoma, you have Rock 100 The KATT. Every so often, they'll have a segment called "Get the Led out". They would play Stairway so much you would think it was the jingle for the station. They always called the month of October "Rocktober", and all of their contests allowed you to win a "Rock 100 dollar bill".

Unfortunately, another classic rock station came along that would play much better selections, lots of deep cuts from Zeppeling, Stones etc. so the Katt and all its cheesy glory resorted to Creed & Nu metal.

I knwo there's some Okla people on this board, I'd love to hear the state of OKC radio. I'm sure Stairway is cued up somewhere today.

Why the shame? I'm certainly not ashamed to say that I thoroughly enjoy those albums. While you're at it pick up Van Halen. These things didn't get on VH1 Classic for nothing, y'know. Also, paladisiac, you've got one too many "Shout"s in your post up above.

Actually, I've just started listening to metal again.
Also, a full-circle for me. (Judas Priest and Iron Maiden were the first bands that were "mine" and not my parents'.)

Diggin' SOiL's debut (Scars). It's new, but not "Nü" metal. And pretty damn good.

Haha, that's funny because I still can barely listen to that, but rocked Mellon Collie in all its glory about 2 months ago.

Jimmy -- There are TONS of stations that do get the Led out, and they all only play one of 5 songs.

There was a time when even I didn't understand the furor over The Stones, b/c all you ever heard on the radio was Sympathy, Miss You and Street Fighting Man (aside from Gomper, my least fave Stones track)

I have never understood why more stations don't do deep album cuts, etc...

I've been listening to a lot of 80's style Metal myself...

I don't know what it is, but Labrynth just seems to make me happy whenever I put it on...
