Haven't been totally nuts about what I've heard, though.

I has heard some stuff off of 1965 and Gentleman from a friend in college who was pretty into them and was pretty well meh on the whole thing. Then when I first started posting at CMJ Dov talked about them almost as much and in the same tones I would speak about The Stones, and either he or Billy G reccomended I pick up Black Love. Bought it, love it, and have since revisited the others and enjoy them as well.

I voted 1965 mainly because I've been listening to it a good bit lately.

How do you choose between your kids? Ya think Carol Brady could choose between Marcia, Jan and Cindy?

1. (tie for my holy trilogy)
Black Love
Gentlemen
1965
2. Congregation
3. Up In It
4. Big Top Halloween

I voted for Gentlemen but Twilight's trinity is a good choice too.

Anyone seen Dulli's current side project, Uptown Lights The one time they've played in the last few months I was sick as a dog and missed it.

Please don't mention Uptown Lights...

Deciding whether to fly out to CA for that show was the biggest internal struggle I have had in 3 years.....but he did say, he may take it out on the road after the next Twilight Singers record is done.....

Gentlemen was my #1 all time on my listmania. How could I go with anything else. It would then be Congregation followed closely by 1965.

I only have Gentlemen, so that's what I chalked up.

This thread has inspired me to sell it back this week. Thanks!

Gentlemen
Black Love
1965

That's all I have. I love the first two and enjoy the last in my list.

How do I cast my vote saying, "I don't like the Afghan Whigs"....

Sorry to be such a hater but I picked up Gentlemen about a year ago on the strength of numerous recommendations and it truly bored the shit out of me. I was actually upset that it did absolutely nothing for me. The only postive thing I can say about this band is that they have cool album covers. That's about it.

Not on the poll but worth checking out for a couple of very interesting Supremes covers: the What Jail Is Like maxi-single, really an EP since there's 7 tracks on it.

I've said this before, but their cover of Ass Ponys' "Mr. Superlove" will bring tears. It's also on the What Jail Is Like single/EP.

I just wanted to say that 1965 is underrated.
