ive only just recently got into these guys, so ive only listened to congregation, gentlemen and 1965. so, out of those three, i would have to go with congregation.

Haven't been totally nuts about what I've heard, though.

I has heard some stuff off of 1965 and Gentleman from a friend in college who was pretty into them and was pretty well meh on the whole thing. Then when I first started posting at CMJ Dov talked about them almost as much and in the same tones I would speak about The Stones, and either he or Billy G reccomended I pick up Black Love. Bought it, love it, and have since revisited the others and enjoy them as well.

I voted 1965 mainly because I've been listening to it a good bit lately.

How do you choose between your kids? Ya think Carol Brady could choose between Marcia, Jan and Cindy?

Gentlemen was my #1 all time on my listmania. How could I go with anything else. It would then be Congregation followed closely by 1965.

Sorry to be such a hater but I picked up Gentlemen about a year ago on the strength of numerous recommendations and it truly bored the shit out of me. I was actually upset that it did absolutely nothing for me. The only postive thing I can say about this band is that they have cool album covers. That's about it.

Not on the poll but worth checking out for a couple of very interesting Supremes covers: the What Jail Is Like maxi-single, really an EP since there's 7 tracks on it.

I've said this before, but their cover of Ass Ponys' "Mr. Superlove" will bring tears. It's also on the What Jail Is Like single/EP.
