Yeah, I have some old 120 Minutes video snippets and even some of that IRS show that was hosted by the guy from the Fleshtones [am I remembering correctly?] that came on after 120 Minutes.
That would be Peter Zaremba, lead singer of the Fleshtones. And, if you ever come across it, grab a copy of their Hexbreaker album. Really fun band. They still together? Still tour?
Yes and yes.
Peter Z was the host of IRS' The Cutting Edge-- the precursor to 120 minutes by about 5 years.
The Fleshtones still tour, and still destroy any other band that gets on stage. They're the band I've seen more than any other, and I still catch 'em at least twice a year, even if I have to fly to NYC to do it.
They've a new album coming out this year, slated for August, entitled "Beachhead". It's on YepRoc.
Their last album, "Do You Swing", was one of the best albums of 2003.
Other projects you might enjoy:
The Full Time Men (Keith Streng and Peter Buck, two records released on Coyote, Yo La Tengo's first label)
The Love Delegation (Peter Zaremba with Wendy Wild, two albums, Spread The Word is easy to findl; Delegation Time is impossible--my copy got stolen when the bastard movers walked away with A-R of my cd collection in '98. Seven years of constant searching and I have yet to replace it. "Hey Disco" from that album may be one of the best party tunes ever).
