Actually, I went back and revisited Nocturama, and it's really not so bad.
Dusty Chalk/fidelespoon: you really think the newer stuff sits well with what are popularly considered to be the classics? I would agree have moments, some of the magic is gone though it seems. Do you notice a change in vocal style? Sorry if you think I'm kind of dragging this out and labouring a point.........it's just been bugging me, then Kostntinl introduced to Obner, then I bug you people ;-)

I never said "the newer stuff." I said Abattoir Blues/The Lyre Of Orpheus. Nocturama is very weak comparatively, though I don't dislike it.

I don't really know what popularly considered classics means, though, because Cave's status varies from country to country . He's never been genuinely popular in the U.S. "The Mercy Seat" is the closest he ever came to a hit and even that never got anywhere near the charts.

I'm actually only recently acquainted with Mr. Cave &co., so I haven't really "grown up with it". I do have Murder Ballads and perhaps one or two others from the classic era (not sure if I even have Boatman's Call, but not about to accidentally buy it twice, neither).

So I guess my point is, I can't really say.

Well both are good: TBC is worth owning 2x so you have a spare if there is an emergency. Last album before the possible kidnapping too :D So, anway, I think that about wraps it up for the Nick Cave discussion. Cheers.

Now, hhhmmm, oh yeah: HAWKWIND POLL TIME

I apologise in advance. Konstant said he wouldn't approve anything to do with Dio or Hawkwind, but fuck it-it's only a reputation. I'm sure there's a few Hawk geeks out there?
