So this was your intro to Danny?
Nice.
I "discovered" him when I was DJing in college around 1991. We had a 7" on the SOL label of Danny singing "Speeding Motorcycle" over the telephone to a radio studio, where Yo La Tengo backed him up, in studio. I think that version can now be found on that
Genius + Love = Yo La Tengo collection.
I went out and found a cassette copy of
Yip/Jump Music at my local used shop, which I picked up for 99ยข. I've loved the guy ever since.
Even saw him play his first-ever Chicago show a few years back.
Welcome to Danny's World, Katie. It's a beautiful, scary place. But ultimately, soft and cozy.
