*sigh.*
I had a really bad experience with these dudes in this punk rock recording studio today. It kind of annoyed me for awhile, but still, I felt it was work talking/flaming about.
Basically, me and my friend were supposed to go see an exhibit on this street corner gallery, and there was a band playing in the building next to it. So naturally, I decided to want to check it out, right?
We went around the place to find a rinky door with graffiti over it and a sign that said "Sound Of Music", if I remember that correctly.....it also said to "ring bell for entry', so I did. This nice but seemingly cautious kid gets the door, and asked what we wanted. I told him that we'd heard the band through the windows, and that I didn't know that there was a studio here, and wanted to inquire about it. He gave me a weird look and then this other guy comes in, and starts asking the same question. So I gave him the same answer, and he pretty much thinks that I'm nuts or whatever, and gets this expression on his face that makes it clear that he wants us out. Then he asks if either of us were in a band, so I said that I was, and either he didn't believe me (I was in my polo shirt and khakis) or didn't give a shit, and just says "yeah..."...not "we're busy right now", not "set up an appointment", just gives me the "get the fuck out of here" look. So we were on our way, even though the kid offered to give me the card to the place. I declined.
Anyways, I know that that was a bit unorthodox, but still, is that how dudes react to people -- musicians, even -- asking about their place? I mean, was I in the wrong or was this guy a (racist? anti-preppy? homophobic?) bastard?
I've been tempted to tell alot of the musicians I know to stay the fuck away from that place...luckily I had a smoothie with me and calmed down...
