Is there anything vulgar in Stereolab's "Brigitte?"

It's been twenty years since I knew much French.

With a half-hearted Babelfishing exercise:

Envy drinking and to smoke, Envie for drinking, desire for liking. Brigitte, Brigitte I want, you to copy Brigitte, Brigitte, Brigitte, Brigitte you epatez me, Indispensable Brigitte, you smell the things, done everything anger, done everything of control, Mysterieux and close friend knowledge, That the best remainder still to come Essential Brigitte, you feel the things, You can hurt, As you can give. Epatez sounds sweet and dirty at the same time.

I wonder what people in France make of Butthole Surfers lyrics. That's another thing I'm also wondering.

Oh crap it's ten after 11. Gotta get up at 3:30 on Easter.

I don't think I'll be keeping the sunshine in my soul, to paraphrase the Spree, come 5am. Damn and damn.

Well, see it's Bailey's tonight. Which I was supposed to have one drink of and save the rest for Easter dinner. Oops.

Whoa. Total Spoon brain-link. I was just talking to a friend about this song. I always thought it was written about Brigitte Bardot, but it's actually about Brigitte Fontaine, (who I've recently discovered).

Babelfish lacks quite a lot of subtlety, as per usual. Lemme give that a little fix. "En vie" sounds like "envy" but actually means "feel like"; similarly the words for "feel" and "smell" sound alot alike.

Here are some fixes:

Elvis Fu Wrote:

Feeling like drinking and smoking,
Feeling like drinking, feeling like loving (this could be interpreted as "making love").

Brigitte, Brigitte I would like to copy you
Brigitte, Brigitte, Brigitte, Brigitte you epatez me,
Indispensable Brigitte, you feel things,
everything done in anger,
everything done in control

Mysterious and intimate knowledge,
is the best yet to come?

Essential Brigitte, you feel things,
You can hurt, As you can give.
Brigitte, Brigitte I want, you to copy you
Brigitte, Brigitte, Brigitte, Brigitte you epatez me,
Brigitte, Brigitte I want, you to copy
Brigitte, Brigitte, Brigitte, Brigitte you epatez me,

We will be able to never fill that negligible part of the life of people
We will be able to never fill that negligible part of the life of people
We could just say, all is question of reflection
Crazy one, you see it so certainly
At the sides of honest people

We will be able to never fill that negligible part of the life of people
We will be able to never fill that negligible part of the life of people
We could just say, all is question of reflection
Crazy one, you see it so certainly
At the sides of honest people

...à peu près

I have no idea what "epatez" means.

Nothing too racy.

It's also possible that the "all done in anger, all done in control" might actual be her saying "tout à fait" which would change it to

"You feel things
fully in anger
fully in control."

I should have translated it from French to Portugese to Greek back to French to English.
