BDB will probably be one...I'm almost afraid to listen.

Clinic was certainly a letdown.

Rilo Kiley was the biggest letdown.

And the Beta Band was a semi-letdown but at least they broke up and realized it wasn't going anywhere, which means freedom for Steve Mason.

As with everything, my mind could easily change but at this point in the year, I just can't get into Wilco 'A Ghost is Born' the same way I could with the other albums. The same goes with PJ's 'Uh Huh Her'. I'm about 5 listens in and it just won't grab me.

i think i was equally disappointed by the new beta band and the new gomez record.

it's interesting that they were both bands that i got into around the same time and i just ended up not liking what they were doing after a while.

ariel pink's haunted graffiti was definitely not what i was hoping for either.

Don't like:

The Faint - Wet From Birth
Le Tigre - This Island
Radio 4 - Stealing Of A Nation
Stereolab - Margerine Eclipse
Thrills - Let's Bottle Bohemia
Division Of Laura Lee - Das Not Compute
Athlete - Vehicles And Animals
Beta Band - Heroes To Zeroes
Beastie Boys - To The 5 Boroughs

So-so at best: Bjork, Jesse Malin, Badly Drawn Boy, Bees, Zutons, Travis Morrison.

This has been discussed many times, but I think the Libertines are the most over-appreciated band of my lifetime. I like one song on each of their albums and when I saw them in New York during CMJ, it was one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I really, really don't get it.

while it is not their best release by far, i think that the way it was recorded (different drum tracks in each chanel) is really something interesting.

can't say i ever listened to it all the way through though. so that is saying something.

The Q and Not U album doesn't do much for me either. These are artists I previously knew. There are a whole host of albums I was disappointed in based on the hype such as Madvillain, Walkmen, and Comets on Fire.

i think even half of badly drawn boy's debut isn't that great. i've never managed to listen to it in one sitting.
18 songs for crissakes.

whoever said unkle is right -- it came out this year, though the international release was last year. it's boring and lacking innovation. read about it in this friday's billboard.

While The Arcade Fire was fine, after all the hype I was expecting the greatest album ever made in this reality or any other by anyone ever.

Mclusky and Beta Band also. I'm not a monster huge fan of either, so it's not like i felt they let me down, or as if i had very high expectations. but yeah, this year was not their best.

all of the hype for funeral actually had me downplaying it because i'm so often disappointed by albums that receive such hype. fortunately, it exceeded my then-expectations and will probably land in my top 5 of this year.

Don't like much:

McLusky
Wilco
Franz Ferdinand
Pedro the Lion
Morrissey

Somewhat like to like but fell well short of expectations:

Mark Lanegan
Walkmen
Jorge Ben

I really wanted Rachel Goswell's solo stuff to be good but it just is to fluffy. I'll just have to give up on any return to the Slowdive roots.

I dunno, I haven't been disappointed with any of my purchases this year. I guess I'm the man.

I haven't been that disappointed by anything I have yet. Usually I listen to something first before I purchase it, so I won't have that problem.

i'm going to go with john vanderslice cellar door. it's not bad, per se, just not as good as his last 2.

but for out and out horrible, radio 4 easily wins. i should've seen it coming when they released a remix album on astralwerks.

I 2nd the vote on the Helmet record.

My official vote here though goes to either of the former Replacements albums - Westerberg or Stinson. They were both friggin' snoozers. And I'm as big a supporter of those 2 as you'll find.

John Vanderslice was pretty disappointing. The innovation level went way down after "Four-tracker," right down to the title ripped wontonly from Donnie Darko. Boo.

I learned my BDB lesson on "Have You Fed the Fish," and so happily did not have the opportunity to be disappointed by the new one.

Bah, i should never have bought this just for 'the Rat', the rest sounds as boring as Rod Stewart.

I detect the smell of a crack rock burning in pipe.

Just an awful awful record. Not one track worth listening to.

The Beta Band - Heros To Zeros
mediocore, at best.
