As before, I'm really sorry about this, and feel a little responsible given that I and others egged the guy on (at least until he threatened legal action).

Just out of curiosity (rparis, maybe you know more), though there's no cause of action against the employer, can there be a cause of action against someone who induces your employer to fire you if you haven't done anything illegal? Just wondering.

Highly doubtful...I can't think of anything that would fit this situation. There is sometimes a tort action for interference with contract (if there was an employment contract) but I don't think it would work here. Not even sure if all jurisdictions recognize these torts:

The thing is, the guy's complaint, i.e. unauthorized reproduction, would be legit, so unless somehow you could stretch anything he added into slander, I think you are pretty much dead in the water on that.

When I found out about this from Bloor right after it happened, I literally took it harder than anything in quite some time. Though I've never met you, it's obvious that you're good people and I can't help but feel partially responsible for your horrible fate, having been involved (to a very small degree) with the creation of Obner. As much as I love this place, and would never change anything about it (including the site name and ability to post pics), I still can't help but feel as if this might have had a different outcome were it to have occurred during the days of the CMJ BB.
