Why don't you trade it at a used cd store?

You can probably make more selling it on eBay than to a used record store. On eBay, you can list it as being brand new, unopened and sell it as such. Used record stores treat all incoming merchandise as used so whether it's shrink-wrapped, never played or you've had it for four years and it's covered in dust, you'll get the same amount.

I've only done this once - with the Ramones "Pleasant Dreams". I didn't think I'd upgraded from vinyl yet, but I had.

And then about a year later they issued a remastered version. Grrrrrrr.

Not necessarily. I've gotten more money or worth for the unwrapped CD vs one that's opened.
