I should add that there's not a completely implausible theory in British rock hack circles that I'm responsible for The White Stripes breaking big over there and, thus, causing their zeitgeist a couple years back.

I say this only to point out that I know what the fuck I'm talking about when I recommend a band.

The Changes. Or Paper Airplane Pilots. Both are fantastic and consistent.

Perpetual Groove- Spacey jam music with amazing talent and just plain great songs. I am not a huge fan of the jam scene but this band is worth checking out.

The Sames!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're on Pox World Empire [which is a very small label], and their new album is excellent. If you haven't heard this yet, grab their album from the website below, which is only friggin' $8! Trust me, it's fantastic.

Here's a track from the album:

The Sames - In Liberty Heights

Some day you could try adding Riviera to that list, that is if you ever get your ass to one of their shows. :P

Yes ma'am. But it isn't my fault that they're always playing when I'm on tour and shit.

When you coming out to an L.S. show or to see me play with Graham (which would be right up your alley)? :rawk:

I am listening to the Sames right now. Good CD. Most of the bands on Pox World Empire are good.

i just got the new A-Sides CD and it's pretty great. very 60's british in the vein of The Kinks and The Zombies

also Paul Edelman and the Jangling Sparrows - sounds like Townes Van Zant with a bit more rock or Tom Petty with a pedal steel.

I try not to go gaga over local bands because I feel like my hometown bias influences me too much, but there's a band in Calgary called the Summerlad who should be huge. Their new record is my favourite of the year so far. They're reallyx1000 good.

Listen to this song and this song back-to-back and tell me I'm wrong.
