And what's the litmus test for deciding whether a deceased author was or wasn't gay? Autopsies, DNA tests? How do they keep track of it all?

The author's picture on the back of the book. "yep he looks queer, take Grapes of Wrath off the summer reading list"

Hopefully after we isolate and ostracize the gay gene we can start exhuming corpses and making this scientific.

NONONO! It's contagious. They can just dig 'em up and see if they had "The Gay"

That's a bad example, 'cuz everybody knows "grapes of wrath" is a euphemism for tea-bagging.

These guys aren't quite neo-cons...these are paleolithic cons. They only care the people, and God and the Bible

what? everything ive read says the paleocons are very libertarian. everything ive read also says that neocons are much less libertarian are more into ideas like this, being using the state to sponsor conservative ideals.

This guy no more cares or believes any of this shit than any of you. It's called politics. It's called Alabama has a gay marriage referendum coming up (thank Got it's primary day, and not the day of the general) and it's called the Republicans think they have a shot at taking over the state house and state senate. Its called them trying to turn this election into Jesus vs. The Faggots, because it works so well.

Open your eyes.

Thanks. I'll be sure to open my eyes next time.

Loog has the tact of a framing hammer, but he means well.

So this is actually a good illustration of the mechanics of divisive politics? By that I mean that when people deny being divisive (and who wouldn't?) when they really are, this is how they go about doing it?

Yes. This is nothing but an attempt at a wedge issue from a no-account state rep. in a safe district, trying to bait people into supporting something to use it against them in teh future.

This, ina nutshell, IS politics.

Whatever it is, it makes me sick and is part of the tide of censorship sweeping this nation. It's equally as insidious as the corporate censorship that this goon and his ilk inspire by the few medial outlets that control this country. If you need examples, there are many. It's disgusting that an elected leader is championing actions taken by despots all over the globe.

You may want to reduce this to "it's just politics", but it was "just politics" when democratic societies made the shift to totalitarianism. Some would say the tricks of the Nazis in the 30s were just politics, and then oops the final solution happened. I'm not saying that level of sadism is happening here, but all of the events in totality give me a chill.
