Has anyone heard anything about it? Apparently Naomi Watts stars in the Jessica Lange role.

From Countingdown.com

Who's in it? Jamie Bell , Colin Hanks , Naomi Watts , Andy Serkis , Jack Black , Adrien Brody

What's it about? When ex-WWI fighter pilot Jack, British archeologist Lord Darrow and his daughter Ann join Hollywood Filmmaker Carl Denham on an expedition to locate an ancient pagan tribe who worshipped the Ape God Kong, they are taken on a nightmarish journey that none of them will ever forget. Behold the Eighth Wonder of the World - King Kong!

The important thing is that Peter Jackson is directing it.

i still like jack black, despite the occasional Envy or, erm, Airborne, it's just that i don't really think King Kong needs another remake. The B&W is incredible, and certainly it encapsulates that era more than some billion dollar hunka shit now is gonna do. I think i'm remaked the fuck out.

King Kong is probably gonna look as fake as the remade Godzilla did.

actually, the Godzilla remake from last year was pretty good. Mostly because the director was all about the rubber suits.

Peter Jackson needs to get apes off his mind and direct a good Final Fantasy movie. You know, based on FF6 or something.

haha

It'd be awesome if the entire cast was midgets with disproportionately big heads running around in a maze-like world shot from overhead.

Spirit Within was a good start. The idea behind it was fantastic. Just would've liked more swords/magic, I guess. FF game plots are so thematically rich, though, that I'm not sure 2-3 hours could do them justice.

Grim Fandango, on the other hand, would make an incredible film if it was done right.

I wouldn't see this movie if you payed me, or if it won 10 Oscars. I fell asleep just thinking about it.

He could do Final Fantasy 6 (the best of the old-school era) in a trilogy format.

Peter Jackson's The Frighteners and Dead Alive are awesome, so I'll see this.

I just saw the original King Kong and it kinda seems too awesome to fuck with, but Jackson is at least a name I can trust. I'm more angry about Scorsese remaking the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs.
