Who's heard thsi and what's the consensus? How does it relate to the previous stuff, so on and so forth. Thanks for your comments in advance.

I think it's a pretty boring CD. The songs aren't really bad but think second half of Biography of... or the throw-aways on Rockin' the Suburbs. This is the album that has made me say, "from now on, I'm going to listen to a Ben Folds album before I buy it." Before this album, he was an automatic purchase for me.

has an outside shot at top 20 of the year for me, but i know ben can do better. (maybe he's too old?) if the "bitches aint shit" cover were on there, i'd be listening more often. :)

I heard a song on there about his kid and it made me want to puck. I mean, I'm not against writing songs about your kid, but at least make it a GOOD song about your kid.

I LOVED Rockin' the Suburbs. So far I'm not impressed by this album. But to be fair, I've heard 2 songs.

It's less fun than Rockin' the Suburbs in general. It's a nice album, but I don't feel a huge desire to listen to it. It's very "adult" feeling, and makes me fear for a very Elton John future for him - not that it's post-70s EJ sounding, but that the direction of this album hints at a disconcerting possibility of the future of his career going 80-current Elton John.

This reminds me, the tribute song to Elliott Smith is terrible. It sounds like a 7th grader wrote it.

Really, I think this album sort of sounds like a B-sides album to Rockin' the Suburbs. I've made the same comment about Ben Folds starting to head the direction of Elton John. I like a lot of Elton John's 70s stuff but that's not what I hear when I hear this album, I hear a Disney soundrack in the not-too-distant future.

I'm pretty sure I don't like him beyond the first Ben Folds Five album.

"The Luckiest" on Rockin' is a classic for me.

I haven't heard his latest, but I'd like to.

Looks like I'll be in the minority on this one, but I'm about 2/3 of the way through my first listen, and I like it. "Give Judy My Notice" is especially good. No, it most certainly doesn't "rock" or have the "quirk" factor of Rockin' the Suburbs (which I also like), but it's really well done MOR piano pop. I realize that's not everyone's bag of tea, but every now and then this is gonna scratch me right where I itch.

I think his resemblences to Elton John are starting to get eery and a little frightening. He now has Elton hair and Elton glasses, and has started putting mid '90s Elton glissandos into his piano playing.

But if this was named Saving Silverman, I would probably buy it anyway.
