the fucking beach boys. i know this won't fly well over here, but i just can't see the appeal whatsoever. It all sounds like overharmonized fluff-lite pop. I know, Pet Sounds was a massive influence on pop music blah blah blah, i like it even less than their other stuff. This is the sort of thing that usually convinces me that i just don't like pop music.

oh, "Fun Fun Fun" is ok. that's it for me. It should be mentioned that their cover of "Stagger Lee" is what set me off on this rampage.

And what's up with only one of them knowing how to surf? and him drowning?

They're not the fucking Surf Boys, now are they?

They're the I'mastayondryland BEACH Boys.

I like em, more than the Pretenders whom i think are decent. Vanessa Carlton and Third Eye Blind need to suffer violent deaths. Reserve your hate for the people who deserve to be truly hated.

but aren't they credited (for better or worse) with making surf-rock? I don't consider it surf rock, but i always associated them with surfing. Jeez, you're pretty edgy when it comes to those guys.

Vanessa Carlton and the like aren't worth feeling one way or another about to me. I mean, it's not even worth remembering their names. I mean, I hate Rod Stewart. I probably hate the Doors. Matchbox Twenty i just ignore.

If you want ROCK, they are not your band.
But if you want something transcendental, listen to "You Still Believe In Me" – the choral parts should take you there.

But if it ain't your bag of weed, I can understand.
I'm not a big Radiohead fan, myself.

Nope, don't think so. They had some songs about surfing, but didn't do surf rock (not as far as I'm concerned anyway).

should there be a baby check-in like with coats and stuff?

baby baggage claim? no baby carry-on?

if you want to get me started on a band i hate, keep talking about the Eagles. I've broken up relationships over the Eagles.

there should be baby ball gags and perhaps even a small degree of respect for the people around you.

I hate the Eagles too. I'd rather rub my face into concrete than listen to any Eagles song.

Ahh the anti-kid crowd. hehehe

For the record, after much screaming and fighting and because I couldn't take anymore stress, my maid of frigging honor brought her 4 month old to our wedding. Her husband was at his cousin's wedding that day and offered to take him but she decided he was better off with her. Because she couldn't bear to be away from him for four seconds.

Her parents came and watched him during the ceremony, but the dinner toasts were fucking special when he decided to cry a lot of the way through em. I still want to kill her for it.

Hell, she tried to bring him to my bachelorette dinner!!!

Ugh.

Yeah, babies at weddings are a bad bad thing. But airplanes, nothing you can do about it. Just pray that the child doesn't cry a lot.

that's what I don't get. At the first sign of the kid not stopping the crying during a nice moment, the mom should have immediately left the room with him....not continue to try and rectify the situation there.

Noise cancelling headphones take care of the airplane issues. We are one of the only couples in our crowd without a kid and I refuse to take part in any conversations and activities revolving around the wiggles etc.

My head nearly exploded when a couple brought their 4 year old kid on a beach camp we had last year. I was "not nice" about that one.

hee hee. i'm not anti-kids, just anti-kids crying/screaming in public. :D babies at weddings must be annoying, never had to deal with that. i only mentioned the airplane thing because that happened over the weekend, although i know there's nothing you can do about it.

We had a no child policy for my wedding. But some of my cousins thought that part of the invitation didn't apply to them.

Now I'm childless, but I'm guessing that the assumption that parents can "control" when an infant cries is somewhat unfounded.
