What happened BJ, what happened?

The first album I ever owned (not counting kids stuff from my childhood) was AC/DC's Highway to Hell on vinyl. The first album I bought with my own money was The Cars - Heartbeat City, on cassette.

hey buddy - you try telling a 10 year old (namely ME) that these purchases would have been for naught. besides, i tortured my parents enough with that damned simpsons album. that was enough of an indication.

Because no one must ever know 99% of the records I listen to are by Ken Coyler and The Lonnie Donegan Band.

I'm pretty sure it was this LP. I begged my Dad to buy it for me at the record store. I must've been about 6 or 7...I still think it was a good choice for the time.


Also, I remember getting this one around the same time. Back then I wanted albums purely based on the coolness of the cover art.

i had all of my teenage vinyl stored at my mom's house and let's just say i had a sibling with a "problem" who sold everything in sight for a little habit of his.
the washer and dryer were one thing but the records really hurt.

I'll see what doubles i got. I need to make space anyways. You got a turntable? Might be a little price to ship, but if you're coming to chicago anyways, we'll send you back with a decent starter stack.

pretty sure it was this, in the 5th grade:

It was a transcendental moment in my life. I remember every nano-second of the transaction. I remember the dingy record store, the end-cap, the Kiss Alive II album sitting next to it. I remember skipping baseball cards for weeks (which is why I never got that Micky Rivers card to complete the year) while I scraped and saved the ten bucks required to buy it. I remember my parents disgust and fear at what emanated from the 1960's solid state turntable/receiver cabinet. It was thrilling, and I've never looked back. I remember later the disgust and confusion of my 6th grade classmates as I played the album in general music class on the day we were allowed to bring in stuff from home.

That record's been with me for 25 years, and it's carried me through middle school, high school, and college.

That's how I remember that shit.

Yeah, all that and let's face it...we're all loonies around here.
