Funny because I Love the Little Earthquakes record, but have never been able to get though anything else of hers. I quit trying years ago.

Under the Pink was my favorite....Little Earthquakes is classic...

I haven't heard the album, but I did check out the song with Damien Rice and it was oh so boring! I expected it to be so much more. Lame.

I don't think it's a steaming pile so much as it's "pleasant," geared toward the adult contemporary audience she got with the airplay for "A Sorta Fairytale."

There's some good ideas on the CD and her voice is strong. By strong I mean actually singing strongly instead of relying on vocal quirks.

But musically it's mostly Carly Simon-Sarah McLachlan stuff.

I give it a 4 on the Tori scale, but an 8 on the "Triple A singer-songwriter scale."

It's not as bland as the Lou Barlow, though.

And I think you're correct. And, for the record, I actually enjoy Scarlet's Walk. But I also have a very, very low tolerance for Tori's twee musings, and SW seems to have the least offensive amount of them. For instance, it's not even just the mention of "knickers" and other such quaint terminology, it's the emphasis she places on words like that, as if she's thinking "I've got to enunciate 'knickers' more strongly so everyone knows how unusual I am." I don't mind hearing stuff like that with the Decemberists, so why should Tori bother me? It's the delivery, plain and simple. And Tori's delivery can drive me up the wall. Beekeeper managed to do that within seconds of putting it on the first time. Congratulations, Tori!

I haven't really gotten into this CD. So far, the only song I like is "Sweet the Sting." I did like Scarlet's Walk. I was one of the folks that did not care as much for the experimental Tori. I still think Boys for Pele is her steaming pile CD.

I really like it.

Is it considered off-topic to reply with a positive post in a "hater" thread?
