my last final is tonight and tomorrow I am off to Italy for 15 days. Venice, Tuscany/Florence/Umbria, the Amalfi Coast, then Rome and a few points in between.

Anyone ever been to Italy have any advice for me?

See you all when I get back.

Dude I hate you.

I expect a full report here when you get back because I'm planning a Euro-trip hopefully later this year. I am planning on spending about 6-7 days in Italy. Definitely Rome and Venice or Florence but I haven't decided which yet.

I'd be interested to know people's thoughts on these as well. Particularly Venice vs Tuscany region.

Sounds fun, Rodney, and I think you totally deserve it. Have a great time, and report back to us on all the shenanigans.

(No, I haven't been to Italy, maybe in a couple o' years, but yes, you suck). :D

I honeymooned in Italy: Rome, Lecce, and Otranto.

So... in Rome:
•Café/cappuccino at San Eustacciao (sp.?)

•Have dinner at Ambasciatta d'Abruzzo. Just take a cab and tell your driver to take you there... it's probably in his neighborhood. An out-of-the-way restaurant that is frequented by LOCALS and only a few tourists who are "in the know". Consider yourself among them now and, you're welcome.

•Drink Limocello after every meal. Best digestive ever.

•Walk wherever you can. There's something to see everywhere you go – even if it's not in any guidebook.

•It's always "Scuzzi, no parla Italiano." NOT "Parle Ingles?"!!!! Remember you're a guest in THEIR country.

Drink it all in and have a great time.
Italy is an amazing place.

i've had a blast every time i've gone over there. the people are fantastic and even though cinqua terra is totally overrun by germans it's probably my third favorite place on earth.

the only trouble i ever got into in Italy was saying that Tom Cruise is gay. they love the tom cruise over there.

I have no kids and my wife makes a lot more money than I do.

Our dog is going to our old neighbors house. My friend is going to watch our house and cats. I got work covered. Cashed in some stock for misc. expenses while over there. Word to your mother.

Never been to Italy but as you may or may not know I'll be a Classical History student come September so I'll be spending quite abit of time in Italy and Greece over the next few years.

Cool, huh?

if you're going to the uffizi, make sure you've already purchased your tickets, and you probably still can today if you haven't already. i found out i was going to italy a week before i left, and was able to get one. advantage: getting to cut right to the front of a couple hundred persons line and stroll right in. if you're going to the vatican, though, be prepared to wait for a long, long time.

Was ufizi drive me to firenze!!

In Venice just stroll everywhere. All the winding streets can make for a sweet non-guided adventure. Are you going to the Isle of Capri. It is rifuckingdiculously beautiful. Rome was meh!?! to me. Florence=art.
