Dude, their first album rivals Exile as the best monger rock album ever put out.

theyve got like 2 or 3 good songs for me but the rest runs together in a big, shiny mascara'd fart.

Don't know enough of their music, but considering how much I dig the Iggy, Bowie, Velvets, etc., they seem right up my alley.

Rads, Derris and Bloor and Beliizebub all are afficionados as well. I bet Cotton does, or should dig them as well.

The debut is sleaze rock extraordinaire, and always gets me in the right move to throw DOWN.

#1 on my Listmania for songs:

Well if you don't like it, go ahead, find yourself a saint
go ahead now, try to find a boy who's gonna be what I ain't
Now what you need is a plastic doll with a fresh coat of paint
who's gonna sit through the madness and always acts so quaint
I said yeah yeah yeah

With your new friend you're really making a scene
I see you bouncing around from machine to machine
And you know they're never real, they're never what they seem
and you can try to generate some warmth and you see just what I mean
I said yeah yeah yeah

And If I'm acting like a king - Well that's cause I'm a human being
and if I want too many things - don't you know that I'm a human being
and if I've got to dream - baby baby baby, I'm a human being
and when it gets a bit obscene - (woo hoo!) I'm a human being
And I've just got to go around with my head hung down
Just like a human, babe, an unknown human being
And I can hold my head so high cause I'm a human,
a riff raff human being

Why won't you give me a little sip, why don't you try me on a drag of that cigarette
Why don't you try to give me something that I'll never ever forget?
but now don't you blow it all on a million dollar bet
because you're liable to lose it on the best lovin'* you've had yet
I'm beggin' yeah yeah oh yeah

In fact I'm talking about the human race
It's like you're trying to cover up a big disgrace
I said yeah yeah yeah,
Oh C'mon C'mon C'mon C'mon C'mon!

Well I may think that this whole scene is just too appalling for me
Or I may be the type who's just mad about every little thing that I see
Well I can color that with mystery or make it just what I want it to be
While I'm blowing my change on the fan magazines with all the Hollywood refugees,
screaming yeah yeah, oh yeah

And If I'm acting like a king - I said well, I'm a human being
And if I want too many things - don't you know that I'm a human being
And if I've got to dream - baby baby, I'm a human being
And when it gets a bit obscene - (woo HOO!) I'm a human being
And I've got to go around with my head hung down
just like a human being, we're all just human beings
And I can hold my head so high cause I'm a human,
a first class human being

*Edit: I cribbed these lyrics off the net and I don't think "lovin" is the correct word, but I can't remember what else it might be.

I love 'em. I like their second LP the best, but hell, they've only got two so I see no point in living without either of them.

I'm also a big fan of David Johansen's recent acoustic blues discs with The Harry Smiths. Really well done versions of 30s/40s blues classics and his voice actually works great in that context.

How, exactly, does one become a "closet transexual"? Wouldn't you need to come out of the closet in order to receive the surgical procedure? And what about the required 12 - 18 months of living as the opposite sex before the surgery? I just don't see how it's possible for a transexual to stay in the closet. Maybe you know something about this I don't, Rami.

Agreed. Along with Johnny Thunders' L.A.M.F., probably batting third and cleanup on my all-monger team.

I've only ever spent 3 days in GA, but sometimes I swear I'm on the exact same Dirty Souf wavelength as you mongers.

This fact frightens me beyond measure.

Don't be scared. We're actually pretty nice people. And a hoot to hang out with. (in short spurts anyway)
