To make room on my racks for recent purchases, get a little Amoeba credit, and generally weed out stuff that's just collecting dust I'm going to try to trade a bunch of stuff in.

Unless you want to make me a rediculously high offer for this crap its not for sale (I'd rather just get store credit than deal with mailing stuff around), but I thought I'd ask for advice on whether there's anything here really deserving of a last chance listen b4 I trade 'em in:

Old 97's - Fight Songs
Kevin Salem - Soma City
Kevin Salem - Glimmer
Menswear - Nuisance
Mayflies USA - Walking a Straight Line
Mayflies USA - The Pity List
Ben Lee - Breathing Tornados
Ben Lee - Grandpaw Would
The Living End - Roll On
The Living End - S/T
Palace Songs - Hope
Chuck Prophet - No Other Love
They Might Be Giants - Lincoln
The Wallflowers - Breach
The Wallflowers - S/T
Pete Yorn - Day I Forgot
Sunset Valley - Icepond
Sunset Valley - The New Speed
Supergrass - S/T
Pearly Sweets & The Platonics - Pick Yourself Up
Old 97's - Sattelite Rides
David Baerwald - Here Comes the New Folk Underground
Buju Banton - Til Shiloh
Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Witness
Bottle Rockets - Brand New Year
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - S/T
Black Box Recorder - England Made Me
Black Box Recorder - The Facts of Life
The Living End - Hellbound
La Musica Della Mafia - Il Canto Di Malavita
The Delgados - The Great Eastern
Sting - Ten Sumonmoner's Tales
Sting - Nothing Like the Sun
Sting - The Dream of the Blue Turtles
Seafood - When Do We Start Fighting
Dave Pirner - Faces & Names
Oranger - The Quiet Vibrationland
Carlene Davis - Redeemed
Manic Street Preachers - Know Your Enemy
Disintegrated Einstein - Tell Your Friends
Milton Nascimento - Crooner
White Stripes - Elephant
White Stripes - S/T
Jeff Magnum - Live at Jittery Joes
Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise - New Ground
Superchunk - No Pocket For Kitty
BRMC - Take Them On Your Own

Any needles in this crapstack?

Well I'd be keeping the White Stripes, Delgados and Superchunk.

I can't believe you bought Menswear though!

Yeah, I'm biased toward Fight Songs because it's my Old 97's point of entry. Satellite Rides is a keeper for me also. As much as I love Pete Yorn's first one, the second didn't have a lot of staying power. I'm keeping it anyway just for three or four songs.

White Stripes stay put for me. Chuck D just got all of them on Colinswood last night.

The Superchunk album (the only album I would keep from this list), is not out of print.

I can't fathom why one would consider jettisoning those Old 97s albums. I haven't heard that Chuck Prophet, but I know Rads is a fan and the one song he put on a mix for me is good enough to make me curious enough to want to explore his work further, once I ever have disposable income again.

I'd keep Lincoln and maybe one of the BBR albums... otherwise the ones I know seem unlikely to be sorely missed suddenly.

Yep, like the Senator said, I'd give that Chuck Prophet album another chance. It's a nice mix of loops and samples in a mellow alt.country context. I've found that with Chuck it takes a couple listens to hear past the often clunky lyrics. But I'll admit that only half of it shines.

I've also got a soft spot for Sunset Valley The New Speed (but again, only about half of it). Icepond is a different story - it was one of my biggest disappointments ever.

Mayflies USA Walking a Straight Line represents the worst kind of album for us traders. It's just okay. I barely ever play it and yet it's not offensive enough for me to trade in. It just sits there taking up space on the shelf.

And I've been trying to sell Kevin Salem Soma City for years. The damn reckid store just keeps refusing it. I've got a growing stack of albums that keep getting refused (and I keep taking them in, hoping for a newbie behind the counter).

Menswear Nuisance - one of the worst albums and worst bands of all time. Right up there with These Animal Men. You've really gotta be a hardcore Anglo fetishist to find anything at all worthwhile in their tepid Wire rip-offs.

I'd keep Delgados and TMBG. There are some other records on there I still have and don't plan to divest, but nothing super-amazing.

It's short, but I always thought this was one of the better Oldham releases.

I guess to clarify a few things here.

Prob about 1/3 of the stuff on here is stuff that I picked up used for $3 or under and never connected with. They probably stayed in my collection for so long because since I paid so little for them, I figured I'd get little back. Now that I need space, they have to go period.

Others:

TMBG - Lincoln - I bought that double disc career spanning comp a couple of years ago after really enjoying hearing it spun at Spaceland waiting for some band to come on. I've never returned to it post the first after-purchase listen. I'm still keeping that, but keeping Lincoln seems unnecessary as that has the best songs off of Lincoln.

Superchunk - No Pocky for Kitty - I like Superchunk enough and I hear this is their seminal album but the recording quality is so poor that I never listen to it. I don't think I'm exaggerating to say its maybe 40% of the volume level of my newer cds which annoys me and causes me to never listen to it. I've been keeping it for too long knowing I'll probably never listen to it. Maybe I should check its value if its OOP before just junking it in with the rest

White Stripes - Elephant/S/T - I never listen to them anymore and don't really like them much anymore. I'm keeping de Stilj and White Blood Cells in case I ever feel like returning to them but keeping these seem like overkill

Delgagos - I've tried with them, but think they are really bland (sorry bob) and boring. maybe I'll give it one more listen though. They just haven't resonated with me at all.

Old 97's - ditto above comment, but I'd guess I'd also say I don't really listen to any of my alt country as much since I've gotten more into traditional country, early 70's roots rock/country rock. I'm still keeping all my Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Son Volt, Whiskeytown, Long Ryders and a bunch of others but I don't really need to keep everything. I'll give one of 'em another listen but I'm inclined to trade these in.

Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Witness - I love B&S but this is their worst album imho (not counting Storytelling), its too poppy for my tastes. I should give all my B&S spins to their earlier albums and trading this in will force me to do so. I should really trade in some Westerberg/late replacements and David byrne solo albums for the same reason but I can't quite bring myself to do it.

I guess I'll listen to some of the others including the Chuck Prophet b4 trading but I own 3 Chuck Prophets and this is my least favorite of them and I rarely listen to any of them.

the double TMBG?? do you mean, "Then"? cause that does have the whole lincoln record on it, and if thats the case, defentiely no need to hold ontot he single version.

Do you mean the Then: The Earlier Years comp? That has the entire self-titled and Lincoln, and a whole bunch of other stuff. That's pretty good. Not sure about any 2CD comp.

Hopefully those 3 are Balinese Dancer, Homemade Blood, and No Other Love - 'cuz that's the trio I'd point to as the best of Chuck Prophet's discography (not counting his work with Green On Red). NOL is quite a departure from those previous two, however, so I can see how it's gonna be the sore thumb of the bunch.

BTW - I'm with ya on Delgados and Old 97s.

It's called Dial A Song and spans their whole career.
