So, we've done this on CMJ before, but what bands have you seen most often over time? When I look at this, it's pretty interesting, because while my ipod and CD collections are pretty diverse, when it comes to seeing bands, my "repeat" list is heavy on high school and college favorites that are considered pretty mass market!

I'd love to see other people's lists.

================

Alejandro Escovedo - a lot
Beck - 4
Black Crowes - 5
Blur - 5
David Garza - a lot
Elvis Costello - 6
Eric Clapton - 10
Jerry Jeff Walker - a lot
Jimmy Buffett - a lot

Prince - 4
Robert Earl Keen - a lot
Rolling Stones - 4
Travis - 4
U2 - 7
Wilco - 5
Willie Nelson - 5

Do to my geographic location I don't make alot of shows but -
Bob Dylan - 4
Wilco - 3
Robert Earl Keen - 3
Jay Farrar - 2
North Mississippi Allstars - 3

I've seen a bunch of stuff once, but people usually only come around here once every 5 years it seems. Alot of who I've seen just really comes down to who comes to Louisiana.

The Fleshtones. By far. I've been going to their shows for close to 20 years now. For a while in the mid-90's, you could catch them just about every weekend in Alphabet City--Lakeside Lounge, etc.

I still go to see 'em every chance I get.

Once I've seen a band I tick them off on my 'I've Seen' list and thats that.

There are a couple of exceptions though...

The Grease Monkeys ?? (a local band that support about every second band that comes through town)
Marion - 5 (3 times as Morrissey's support group)
Morrissey - 4
Lift To Experience - 3
Superchunk - 2
Suede - 2

That's pretty much the way I do it as well. I tell ya, when you're 60 and I'm 70+ we'll be the best of buds.

Exceptions:

Copyright - too many to count
Scramblers - ditto
Art Bergmann - 3 (including Young Canadians)
54-40 - 3
Grapes of Wrath - 3 (dating back to when they were the House of Commons)
Sons of Freedom - 2
(the above are all local bands though, so they hardly count)

non-local exceptions:

Beat Farmers - a bunch
Replacements - 3 (+ Westerberg solo once)
Painters & Dockers - 2 (consecutive nights)
Spoon - 2 (well, in a month)

Jonathan Richman - 6 or 7 times
Cornershop - 4 times (only twice on purpose)
Blur - 2 times

If you're including "Local" bands:
Flavor Channel - 9 times or so
MOTO - 6 or 7
The Sea & Cake - 3 times
Paper Airplane Pilots - 3 or 4 times

That's a name I haven't heard in a long while. Tell me about House of Commons. I became a fan of Grapes of Wrath at the time of Treehouse, which I still insist was as good (and in the same vein for those not familiar with them) as REM at their height.

Warrior Soul?? There is a blast from the past. I used to love them (during my long hair, goatee, Ahnk earring wearing years), but never made it to a show. Lullaby was my favorite song. It was from Last Decade, Dead Century as I recall. Thank you for jogging my memory of that band. Now I'm going to have to go dig that tape out...

wow, pagoda. that's some hardcore shit right there. i'm impressed.

i think most bands i've seen fall into the 2-3 times category, but once i see them live, i usually knock 'em off my "to see" list as well. i didn't really start going to live shows constantly until about 3 or 4 years ago.

modest mouse, the shins, ted leo, radio 4, death cab (in the span of about a year or so)= 3
spoon, bjork, the raveonettes, the pixies, muse (but that's all within a year and half) = 2
chem. bros= i forgot. i think like 4-5 times at least.

i know there's more but i can't think of it at the moment.

dj's on the other hand.... i've probably seen dieselboy, mark farina, derrick carter, ed rush & optical over 10-15 times. i don't remember.

Please note there is a web site that generates that data.
