...Foo Fighters? I was just taking a nap in my truck during my lunch break (hung over), woke up and heard a sample of a new song from the album coming out in just a short while.

Don't know if I've EVER read anyone's opinion of this band on here before.

I'll be completely and totally honest. When I heard the sample of the song I thought it was a beer comercial or something. Just kinda sounded that way.

Having said that, I am a HUGE fan of this band. IMO Nirvana never did, or never could have lived up to these guys if their hairy bean bags depended on it.

I don't hold any grudge against 'em or anything, but I find Foo Fighters really dull.

Enjoyed their first two albums quite a lot. There is Nothing Left to Lose could easily be lost from any collection. There last one isn't too bad either. I always look forward to their stuff, despite that it's mostly mediocre. Even Dave Grohl admits as much in a recent article I read how on the last album there are "about 7 songs I'll never play again". Thanks for fucking releasing them Dave, not exactly a ringing endorsement to pick up your next double album.

i thought their last album was the closest theyve come to being decent since their first album, but upon hearing their new single, i was not impressed. at least dave grohl can still drum like a mofo, even though he lets someone else do that in the foo fighters.

D. Grohl seems to be a pretty likable fella, but I know little of their catalog save the first record - a few school memories attached to it, but never got around to buying their merch. I had 'Everlong' on a mix way back when. Feel me.

I listened to and liked them a lot when their second album came out.

I've got copies of their last two but I haven't picked them up in a long time.

I do like Dave Grohl. He's a great drummer, is pretty funny in interviews, and makes videos that are fun to watch.

Dig 'em. It's catchy pop rock and I NEED that every once in a while.
Granted, there's a lot of generic/crap pop rock out there these days, but the FFighters have something going on in their music that's different and better from most anyone else.
Plus, Dave Grohl is one of the coolest mofos is rock and isn't Scientologist. For that he gets mad respect and admiration.

I'll 2nd the consensus opinion that I liked the first one and haven't really paid attention to them since.

IMO the first one is the worst of all of them. "Big Me" is just too fucking poppy even for me. Just sounds kinda elementary to me.

While certainly not as rabid a fan as Busty, our opinions are pretty much the same on the Foo Fighters. I've been shouting that "better than Nirvana" line from the mountaintop for a good 2-3 years.

Actually playing their music made me appreciate/like it a lot more.

I'll throw in a vote for the creativity and humor they apply to their videos, if nothing else.

My Foo Fighters CD collection amounts to one single - "This Is A Call"

I've liked the odd release (one in particular - no idea what it was called) that I've heard on the radio but I've never felt compelled to buy anything else.

foo fighters are one of those bands i'd like to be able to put together a single disc comp of the songs i like. there are a few on each album that are good, with the rest being crap.

Their cover of Prince's "Darling Nikki" is pretty cool.

I've got all of their albums, and I rate them in this order:

1. There is Nothing Left to Lose
2. The Colour and the Shape
3. Foo Fighters
4. One by One

I've even got the Probot CD...

I'm looking forward to their double album. Dave Grohl is up there as one of the coolest guys in rock (along with Josh Homme).

Is that worth having? I've picked it up a few times but have never taken the plunge.

i loved them/him when the first record came out, color and the shape was pretty good, the majority of everything else that I've heard since has been bland top 40 shit.

Dude, don't even put Grohl and Homme in the same category, personality wise. Grohl is a cool mofo, but Homme's a egomaniacal prick. He's kinda the Jack White of the west coast; great musician and a tastemaker, but not an easy one to hang out and throw back some brews with and talk music, life, etc.

That's my measure of a "cool" musician — someone who's just easy to vibe with away from the stage — and is why Donnas A and C will always be near the top of my cool rock star list, even though their music has turned to ass.

the new song they put out is complete rubbish to me. i loved the first album, but they have been trending down after that.

listening to the new song now. this could be the end of my fan run with foo. he should just ditch the band and do it all himself again. and maybe some fresher lyrics would help.

oh well. there's more than enough good music out there to make up for the rue of foo.

"Everlong" is a good song. And self-titled and There's Nothing Left to Lose are fine memory inducing '90s records, if a little generic. Though I sort of think Grohl's greatest post-Nirvana achievements have been as a session drummer.

I used to like them more than I do now.
