I just watched The Phantom Menace yesterday. If Jar Jar Binks was totally cut out of it and some of the stuff with Anakin wasn't so over the top unbelievable (flying a starfighter AND blowing up the droid control ship?) it'd be decent. I have Attack Of The Clones coming this week sometime.

Watched the "Empire strikes back" last night... still the best yet of the series and not even directed by Lucas. Here's hoping that the last installment is better than the last 2.

I only saw 'Phantom Menace' on a really bad pirate video copy before it was officially released. Perhaps not the best way to see it but it seemed, through the fuzz and static, to be pretty awful.

So, they don't introduce a young Han Solo in the new Star Wars do they?

A few years ago, I was watching an episode of Law and Order, and there was this young actor on there playing a thug who looked strikingly like a young Harrison Ford. I thought, "Holy shit, if they ever need a young Han Solo for the new Star Wars movies... they gotta use this guy."

Now, i'm not sure of this, but I think a couple of years later, this actor turned up as the lead in that short-lived abc mini-series, Push, Nevada.

Anyway, after watching Push, Nevada for awhile, I began to wonder if it was the same actor. I was much more certain at first. I guess in that second picture he looks kind of like a cross between Harrison Ford and Chris Issac.

Fortunately, they don't put Han in. I read somewhere that even Lucas wasn't dumb enough to try to find someone to fill H. Ford's shoes.

The wookie thing is actually a left over plot from Jedi. They were supposed to end up there instead of Endor, but Lucas knew that cute little fuzzy bears were more marketable than arm-repping Wookie.

Now, we get to see them in full digital animation glory!! (Groan)

The NYTimes (i believe AO Scott) said this was the best of the entire lot, but that just adds to my pessimism about this whole venture.

I always though Nick Faldo looked like Han Solo a little. He certainly couldn't play a "young" Han but still...
