Jack Sparrow stepping off the sinking boat onto the dock in Pirates Of The Caribbean.

De Niro shooting Bridget Fonda in the middle of the parking lot in Jackie Brown.

The look on Gary Oldman's face as he opens Jean Reno's coat at the end of The Professional.

The goddamn creepy sound the girl makes in Audition.

"On the run from Johnny Law... ain't no trip to Cleveland."

i love this quote because Dignon says it like it's supposed to be this cool quotable movie quote, but it's really stupid. (which in turn makes it a cool quoatible movie quote)

I love the guy in the library who's like "don't rush me you little punk"

"you in the Army?"
"No, I just got short hair"

what's the line he keeps saying before they go to rob someone?

also, best use of a stones song in film EVER.

more from goodfellas:

the single camera scene of henry and karen walking through the rear entrance, through the kitchen and into the club to see the comedian (henny youngman?).

i think i remember hearing that is the longest single-camera, uncut scene in a movie ever. regardless it is my favorite scene of all time, from my favorite movie of all time.

also, when henry pistol whips the shit out of that rich punk that was groping karen, then walks across the street and hands her the gun.

me too, when they walk in on him during the end robbery scene and he's just sitting there doing nothing. His reaction is priceless.

"What are you doing?"

"I don't know man -- I lose my touch."

"You never had a touch!"

the opening scene of the Dawn of the Dead remake is fucking awesome. the rest of it pretty much sucks, though.

the use of the Pouges as a young Basquiat goes to the art museum with his mom gives me chills.

when Rene the art critic first meets Basquiat and he tells him his name and replys "Oh my God, you sound famous already!"

and later another great Rene moment, "That's $2000 and he's from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, suck my pussy, you star!"

i am total agreement with all the Goodfellas references.

I must add that I could go on at similar length with bits from Donnie Brasco:

That hurt look on Bruno Kirby's face after Michael Madsen berates him in front of the whole crew over how they are increasingly short in cash to kick up to bosses every month. This movie was filled with moments like this, where the typical bad-ass, mob caricature is shown as hurt, vulnerable, feeling inadequate...

"I tell ya somethin. This crew better start earnin' or somebody's gonna get clipped."

(Meanwhile, Lefty's trying to beat open a parking meter with a hammer)

Early on in Donnie's "schooling" from Lefty:
"Get a pair of pants. This ain't a fuckin' rodeo."

When Donnie takes Lefty to the club in Miami and introduces him to Richie Gazzo:
"You say "plotz" again, i'm gonna rip your heart out and shove it down your throat, you hear me?"

Lefty: "What are you gonna do, take a left off the fuckin' bridge?!"

The look on lefty's face as Sonny Black steals his moment with Traficanté on the yacht. And how he sulks and tells Donnie he can barely look at him he's so upset.

From Three Kings:

It's awesome how almost every bullet shot in this movie is followed by the camera right into it's human target. I thought it was quite revolutionary at the time... and really made you think about every shot fired, as opposed the status quo of action and war films, where bullets are being showered everywhere with no reflection on consequence or damage, whether it be human or material.

Plus. it's got some great moments. Like the one where Wahlberg's character is being tortured... Oil poured into his mouth, and American pop CDs crammed in afterwards... his interogator asking him what Michael Jackson's problem is.... "hooo!hoo!". Brilliant.

Spike Jonze on Gold Boullion: "You mean them little cubes you put in hot water to make soup?"

Archie Gates: "You're scared, right?"
Conrad Vig: "Maybe. "
Archie Gates: 'The way it works is, you do the thing you're scared shitless of, and you get the courage AFTER you do it, not before you do it. "
Conrad Vig: "That's a dumbass way to work. It should be the other way around. "
Archie Gates: "I know. That's the way it works."

brilliant film.

The scene in Fargo where Marge goes back to the car dealership to question Jerry and she asks him about the car and Jerry respons with the single worst poker face in the history of time. Then he tries to gather himself and change the subject.

how about Steve Buscemi's scene in the Wedding Singer where he jumps onstage and grabs the mic? Ouch. Painful AND funny.

And speaking of Steve Buscemi, who can forget the down-home, authentic, delta blues sound of BLUESHAMMER?! (Ghost World)

Or that scene where the lady and her kids walk out in front of his car.
"What are we, in slow motion here? C'mon, what are you, hypnotized? Have some more kids, why don't you?!"

He "can't relate to 99% of humanity."

oh yeah, and ANY of John Turturro's scenes in Anger Management.
"What, do you think you're better than me, 'cause you got both your nuts? "

Clooney in "O Brother, Where Art Thou" when they wake up in the barn surrounded by the police
"My hair! How's my hair?!"
"Damn. we're in a tight spot."

Yeah. I have somehow only seen this once, but fucking love it. Ice Cube has one of the best voices of all time:
"So, I don't wanna hear sand nigga, or dun coon out of none of y'all"

Bloor -- i was gonna mention Carbone being frozen, and the whole Layla scene. Estone -- that is the "steadicam shot" and I like how Quentin steals it for Reservoir Dogs, and then they TALK about stealing it in Swingers, only to steal it for the next scene. fucking classic.

The scene in City of God where L'il Dice shoots that whole fucking hotel up is brutal.

Three Kings's cinematography is awesome. There are a couple annoying characters, but on the whole it's really good.

Jim Carrey's dry heaving face in Dumb & Dumber.

The steadicam shot in Panic Room is pretty cool too.

Who is this Radcliffe? I like him already.

How about: "I looked at the trap" from Ghostbusters? Or Billy Murray doing the goofy dance across the square? "Okay, she's a dog". Rick Moranis's resigned "Okay" after Egon asks him for a sample of his brain tissue?

that scene owns....

same movie: When they are riding on the fire engine and then it cuts to Stiller and Royal in the ambulance, "....Royal died on a ...." it gets me everytime

Juxtaposed by Royal's funeral, the fact that they are wearing black sweatsuits at the funeral instead of red cracks my shit up everytime.

Another great Stones song in a movie (another thread) in that film is "She Smiles Sweetly"
