When I was younger, I could tolerate the music palooza. Now, it seems only affordable tix, a mildly warm summer city and a decent, though not overwhelmingly good line-up feat. Dungen could change m'mind.

Will there be other Obnerites donning BlackMetalPizza shirts and dangly knife earrings in attendance? Still weighing options.

I have a meeting in Chicago on Monday the 18th, so we are coming in early for this. Hope to meet up with the Chicago crew.

The Intonation thing looks boring to me. Plus they jacked the ticket prices up, and are moving the fest's location from what I've read(still in Chicago, just diff park). So the ticket price for the bands that are playing =meh.

But as I said in other thread just now, have my palooza tickets plus it's close and well, I like lots of the bands playing it. You'll find me there.

Charli, do tell. They've scrapped the 2-day $22 prices already? This is what really sold me. I'm not so great with the math, but $22 (if it still stands) seems like a rootin' tootin' good bargain for the following cast:

Tortoise
Death From Above 1979
The Go! Team
Broken Social Scene
Four Tet
Magnolia Electric Co.
A.C. Newman
Beans [featuring The Holy Fuck]
The M's
Head of Femur
Will Oldham
Jean Grae
The Decemberists
Les Savy Fav
The Wrens
Deerhoof
Andrew Bird
Out Hud
Xiu Xiu
Dungen

Considering that I'm paying $49 + service charges, plus transporataion/hotel to get ther for Sasquatch with northwest gems like Smoosh, Aqueduct and USE this Pitchfork thing seems like a true bargain.

I think $22 for both days is in effect, they raised the single day ticket from $10 to $15. Still a bargain in my book.

The festival gates open at noon each day. Advance ticket sales will go on sale this Wednesday, May 18. The cost per ticket will be a mere $15 per day, and a limited number of $22 two-day passes will be available as well.

Yeah, but I'd rather pay that for at least 20 bands that I know I want to see in a park that's three blocks from my house that I have re-entry into, vs 25 or whatever for something that I'd have to take two el's too where there's only one band I have any interest in seeing.

If I didn't just see the Pixies in Nov., Dino Jr. in '94 and Weezer didn't decide to turn to sucking, I'd probably go to the palooza. but i think there are more bands on the intonation fest than lollapalooza that I have any interest in seeing.

I'll probably go to the Sunday show. Hopefully the Les Savy Fav and Out Hud sets are close, because those are the only two I care to see.
